Direct Support Professionals in Residential assist the people we support in developing personal relationships, having a positive role in the community, increasing independence and helping them develop the skills and abilities needed to achieve their goals.

The Arc Greater Hudson Valley, NY is a not-for-profit agency dedicated to providing support and services to over 1,800 people with intellectual and/or developmental disabilities and to their families.

Our agency offers a broad range of services including Residential Services, Clinical Services, Day Services, Family Support Services, Guardianship Services, Children Education Services, Employment Services, Recreation and more. Direct Support Professional Responsibilities:

· Providing individualized support to adults with intellectual and/or developmental disabilities

· Assisting people served in completion of activities of daily living (ADL’s)

· Assisting in the bathroom, assisting with eating, etc.

· Maintaining a clean and safe environment

· Administering medication

· Transportation with the use of agency vehicles

Minimum Qualifications:

· Must pass a criminal background check

· Must be comfortable with assisting residents with hygiene and medical routines

· All positions require a valid, clean NYS driver’s license with a minimum of one year (1) driving experience with a Class D license

· Ability to work on holidays and during inclement weather

Preferred Qualifications:

· Experience working with intellectual and/or developmentally disabled population
