The Disability Determination Services (DDS) is currently seeking 2 Examiner Support Specialists to join our Medical Claims Unit (MCU) in Tumwater.
In this role, you will provide consultative services for medical billing with vendors, Social Security disability and medically needy claimants. Your work will help Transform Lives!
Some of what you'll do
- Provide expert consultative consultative service for medical billing with vendors, Social Security disability and medically needy claimants seeking reimbursement
- Solely determine proper authorizations have been met and calculate authorized fees
- Send out requests for W-9 information for the provider
- Verify daily payment reports to ensure that it is complete and accurate
- Complete research for MER and CE vendors when they call regarding missing payments
- Process returned checks
- Responsible for covering the Medical Claims Unit billing phone line
- Research and analyze Electronic File sheets for records to determine payment authorizations
Our ideal applicant is a self-motivated, reliable and collaborative individual who is experienced, detail-oriented, and able to maintain confidentiality. They are customer and process oriented specialist must be comfortable using multiple database systems and have strong verbal and written communication skills. They should be able to multitask, prioritize, and interact with internal staff and external entities as needed, accepting responsibility for the quality and timeliness of work to meet or exceed predetermined goals and objectives, all with little need for oversight.
Who should apply
- Professionals with a bachelor's degree and at least one year of experience working with disability, medical or health insurance claims adjudication or investigation, or closely related field,
Or, additional years of qualifying experience may substitute year for year for education.
Preferred knowledge, skills, & abilities
- Ability to analyze and interpret Social Security Administration rules and regulations
- Ability to use multiple database systems
- Experience with understanding and utilizing Current Procedural Technology (CPT) and ICD-9 coding in scheduling
