Position Title: Driver

Department: Transportation

Reports To: Transportation Coordinator

Supervises: N/A

Position Summary: Responsible for transporting patients and a variety of assignments related to the upkeep of the entire facility.

Position Qualifications: High school diploma or GED; experience driving a twelve-passenger or larger vehicle. Must possess a valid Class B driver?s license or be willing to apply. Must be able to maintain composure while driving patients during rush hour on local freeways, streets and highways; basic automotive maintenance; basic auto repair skills, such as ability to change a flat tire, ability to check fluid levels and add fluids, ability to check tire inflation, etc, ability to operate wheelchair lift. Must be able to concentrate on work amidst distractions such as noise, conversations and foot traffic; must be able to consistently meet deadlines; must be flexible in work hours in order to meet patient and organization operating needs. Must be able to read and comprehend manuals and/or instructions. Must maintain self-control in volatile or hostile customer service interactions. Must have ability to perform several tasks concurrently. Must have skills in maintaining information as highly confidential.

Physical and Mental Requirements of Job:
Reaching: Extending hand(s) and arm(s) in any direction.

Walking: Moving about on foot to accomplish tasks, particularly for long distances.

Fingering: Picking, pinching, typing or otherwise working, primarily with fingers rather than with the whole hand or arm as in handling.

Grasping: Applying pressure to an object with the fingers and palm.

Talking: Expressing or exchanging ideas by means of the spoken word. Those activities in which they must convey detailed or important spoken instructions to other workers accurately, loudly, or quickly.

Hearing: Perceiving the nature of sounds with no less than a 40db loss @ Hz, 1,000 Hz and 2,000 Hz with or without correction. Ability to receive detailed information through oral communication, and to make fin discriminations in sound, such as when making fine adjustments on machined parts.

Repetitive motions: Substantial movements (motions) of the wrist, hands, and/or fingers.

Non-Sedentary Work: Climbing, ability to ascend or descend ladders, stairs, scaffolding, ramps using feet, legs, hands and arms. Body agility is important. Maintaining bodily equilibrium to prevent falling when walking, standing or crouching on narrow, slippery or erratically moving surfaces.
