Objective
The Donor Relations Coordinator will support the creation and implementation of strategic initiatives and processes to advance VOAMIs visibility, increase brand awareness, strengthen impact, engage the community and lead to long-term sustainability.
Essential Functions, Duties & Responsibilities
Donor Relations
Build and maintain a personal portfolio of 60 80 active donors
Build and maintain a lapsed donor strategy for outreach
Raise pre-determined amount of new money per fiscal year with annual increases pursuant to the development budget
Monitor progress toward fundraising goals to ensure goals are met
Work with Director of Development to qualify new leads through direct mail, online-giving and research efforts
Develop and maintain an ongoing 12 24-month engagement and cultivation plan that will both enhance and work in partnership with current and future initiatives and events
Support Director of Development in coordinating fundraisers, including setting up and preparing for donor meetings, sponsorship solicitations, guest list management and tracking pledges
Communications and Relationship Development
Coordinate the execution of marketing campaigns and local direct mal
Build and maintain a segmentation strategy
Maintain and track editorial calendar
Assist in the effective and accurate production of communications, public relations materials and other outreach devices, including electronic media, PR materials and press kits, Email Blasts, Agency Newsletters, Annual Reports and other online and printed PR materials
Maintain knowledge of VOAMI programs and personnel and their impact on the community
Leverage marketing automation and CRM systems to the fullest potential
Coordinate and implement settings with assistance from the Data and Creative Lead
Maintain working knowledge of donor database and its operations with a goal of implanting data into a multi-platform marketing strategy
Maintain knowledge of department databases and systems
Coordinate the flow for projects, programs and/or events to ensure efficiency
Coordinate logistics of special events, including data systems, production of solicitation and invitation materials, financial tracking and analytical reports
Maintain and create new relationships with community partners and donors
Additional responsibilities
Maintain compliance with VOA Michigan policies and procedures
Ensure that all duties are carried out in a timely and orderly fashion so that VOA Michigan functions in the most efficient manner possible

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Bachelors Degree in non-profit administration, communication, marketing, public relations, or related field
3+ years of experience in fundraising or communications environments
Experience with fund development and grant writing; proven track record of achieving fundraising targets
Solid understanding of the various aspects of development and communications (marketing, communications, PR, fundraising, development, volunteer management and donor relations) with a focus on the processes and technologies involved
Highly organized, detail-oriented and self-motivated; able to take initiative, manage and complete multiple tasks within deadlines and within budget
Experience with planning and executing small to large/complex fundraising events
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with frequently changing variables
Ability to network, work with others and make new connections
Strong writing and communications skills; ability to make public presentations in a variety of settings
Ability to remain focused on results and reporting
Detail oriented and highly motivated
Database experience
Excellent computer skills, including but not limited to Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Power Point, Publisher, etc.)
Experience with InDesign or Adobe Creative Suite
Ability to work flexible hours, some evenings and weekends and travel occasionally
Great attitude with high-energy personality
Attentive to the donor experience
Influencer and self-directed learner
Ability to commit to the Volunteers of America Michigan mission
Must have valid drivers license, own transportation and driving record that is acceptable to VOAMIs insurer
Working Conditions
