JOB DESCRIPTION
This leadership role is responsible for developing and deploying the operational strategy, business processes, and systems for overall distribution operation. The DC Manager plays an integral role in developing tools, data, and performance metrics to optimize operational efficiency. The DC Manager, as the key DC operation representative, is a cultural ambassador for the HH brand to develop and nurture a human-centric and performance-oriented team culture, which is aligned with HH core values and business objectives.
The DC Manager will embrace the notion of continuous improvement with acute focus on collaboration with the teams from Distribution & Logistics, Business Units, Supply Chain, Client First, and product experts. This role will have the keen ability to collaborate with executives, middle managers, hourly supervisors and associates, vendors, and internal/external clients. The DC Manager serves as a single-point-of-contact and the subject matter expert for organization-wide domestic and international distribution activities.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
Financial Management
- Owns the P&L aspects of the distribution, upholstery, and sampling operations.
- Works with Accounting & Finance teams on financial forecasting.
- Oversees the DC Inventory Manager responsible for the inventory management, reporting, and inventory audit related activities.
Operations Management
- Monitors, tracks, and reports on Quality, Cost, Service, and Safety related KPIs.
- Oversees the Production Manager responsible for distribution center-based production focused upholstery and sampling functions.
- Plays a key role in all new product development and launch related activities.
- Acts as a true business partner with the Transportation Manager to plan and execute the distribution strategies.
- Oversees the Business Analysts responsible for management, maintenance, reports, and outputs of all IT systems (NAV, WMS, Order-Track, etc.) related to the distribution ops.
- Leads all distribution capacity improvement and optimization-focused projects and initiatives
- Formulates the distribution-specific growth strategies and supports the Executive team on all operations-focused initiatives.
- Manages all on-demand and scheduled projects such as employee sample sale, client and sales team training summits, warehouse tours, and vendor visits.
People Management
- Responsible for all hiring decisions and HR budget proposals.
- Manages 5-6 salary department managers who oversee smaller sub teams consisting of hourly supervisors, leads, and associates.
Facility Maintenance & Safety Management
- Responsible for all equipment and human safety related activities that fall under EHS, OSHA and DOT. Serves as the key contact for the corporate Environmental Health & Safety team.
- Manages the maintenance, addition, and elimination of all material handling and IT specific equipment such as racking, forklifts, order-pickers, sewing machines, backing machine, WMS RF devices, printers, PCs, packaging machines, etc.
- Owns all facility management related activities including maintenance, supplies, and managing relationships with the property owner, property management group, and all respective local municipal authorities.
Required Skills
- Bilingual a big plus.
- Technical Ability – Must possess extraordinarily strong knowledge of computer applications such as MS Office, WMS, Navision, ADP, Dayforce, etc.
- Strategic thinker with strong business acumen.
- Problem Solving, Creativity, & Innovation – Must articulate problems in a way that information provided presents key facts to help support groups promptly understand issues in order to provide timely and effective solutions
- Verbal Communication with Internal & External Clients – Must possess exceptional verbal and written communication exhibiting a highly-collaborative way of communicating at all levels of the organization.
Required Experience
- Bachelor’s Degree (Advanced degree MBA preferred) required — in any of the following disciplines: Logistics, Distribution, Engineering, Industrial Management.
- 10 + years of managing large scale distribution center preferably with multi-site footprint. Preferred experience in multiple areas of Distribution management, Transportation management, Materials Management, Project Management, or System Implementation.
- Experience in international distribution and transportation is highly desired.
