Waukesha County's Department of Health & Human Services is seeking talented professionals to join the Public Health Division as Disease Investigators - LTE.
This is a limited term opportunity that requires 32-40 hours per week. The COVID Responses Teams operates Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
Most work will be done remotely, but it is required that hired individuals attend onboarding and training activities physically in person in Waukesha, WI.
Waukesha County will be providing electronic equipment necessary to perform this work. Only applicants that live in the State of Wisconsin or within close proximity to Wisconsin State lines will be considered at this time.
Under supervision, a disease investigator will work remotely to reach out via telephone to individuals who may have been identified with a confirmed COVID case. The investigator will ask a prescribed set of questions and will document the response in the Wisconsin Electronic Disease Surveillance System (WEDSS). They will also provide prescribed guidance and resources that are recommended by the State and/or CDC to the individuals they are calling.
Depending upon qualifications, selected individuals will be placed into either a Programs and Projects Analyst or Registered Nurse classification. These classification specifications can be viewed at www.waukeshacounty.gov/jobs
Salary Ranges:
Programs and Projects Analyst: $27.74 - $36.67/hr
Registered Nurse: $29.87 - $39.39/hr
CHARACTERISTIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Develop empathic, non-judgmental rapport.
- Conduct telephone calls with persons diagnosed with COVID-19 to complete case interviews, elicit contacts exposed to COVID-19.
- Provide follow-up instructions to cases related to isolation/quarantine symptom monitoring and assess the need for medical care and supportive services.
- Collect and record information from the case interview/contact gathering timely and accurately within Microsoft TEAMS and WEDSS.
- Follow approved scripts and protocols, provide people with approved information about isolation and quarantine procedures.
- Establish and maintain effective working relationships with coworkers and consumers.
- Maintain daily contact with supervisor.
- Maintain confidentiality at all times regarding the case.
- Other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS

'Registered Nurse' Minimum Requirements:
- Graduation from a recognized registered nursing education program.
- A. Current license to practice as a Registered Nurse in Wisconsin -OR- B. Temporary State of Wisconsin Registered Nurse permit and attainment of the Registered Nurse license within 6 months of employment.
'Programs and Projects Analyst' Minimum Requirements:
- Graduation from a recognized college or university with a bachelor's degree in business or public or healthcare administration, the social services, police science, or a closely related field.
- Two (2) years of responsible professional work experience which includes research, analysis, evaluation, planning, project management, law enforcement duties, or a closely related area.
- A master's degree in an area listed above may be substituted for one year of the work experience requirement.

- Experience providing customer service (obtaining/providing information, coordinating services, etc.)
- Experience communicating in challenging situations with strong communications skills.
