General Labor contractors provide support to telecom and utility companies in the immediate aftermath of devastating events including hurricanes, tornadoes, severe winter storms, floods, and power outages. Don't worry though, we only send contractors out AFTER the storms as a recovery and support crew. These deployments can last a few days or even a few weeks depending on the event. We provide a broad range of services and tailor our operations to suit the needs of our clients. We are looking for contractors that have the drive and adaptability to work whatever job is required of them. It is important to be organized, self motivated and capable of multitasking.
Upon completing the application process, you will have access to an online portal where you must complete online training and pass the required testing to show you have a working understanding of the job requirements. You cannot work unless testing is completed. You will then be contacted every time we have an event occur. Declining to participate in an event will not disqualify you from future events however, saying you will participate and then not showing up will.
General Labor Requirements:
- All contractors must be 18 or older with valid drivers license and be able to pass a background check
- Be reliable and able to travel on short notice
- Have computer literacy skills
- Own a smartphone and be comfortable utilizing it for work
General Labor Required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE):
- Safety boots with reinforced toe
- Hard hat
- Traffic vest
- Safety glasses-both clear and dark
- Hearing protection
- Work gloves
- Smart phone and charger
- First aid kit
- Flashlight
- Rain gear
General Labor Opportunities:
Hospitality Staff- Housekeeping, Laundry, Sanitation
Yard Worker- Janitorial, Carpentry, Sanitation, Clean up
Security- Work at security gate or yard security detail
Kitchen/Catering- Cook, Clean kitchen area and serve food
Runner or Driver- no special license required
Housekeeping- Ability to thoroughly clean work and sleep spaces with great attention to detail
Administrative- must have strong computer skills and bring your own laptop.
General Labor Compensation Details:
- All contractors are paid an hourly rate and will typically work a minimum of 12 hours a day, until the completion of the event.
- Typically Contractors are paid within 30 days of the completion of an event. This is a general Maximum time, you can get paid earlier depending on the contract.
- Drive time will be paid to and from the event.
- All meals, lodging and fuel expenses (to the event, during an event and leaving event) are paid for.
- If meals are not provided, a per diem is paid out daily.
- All positions treated and operate as independent (1099) contractors
WHAT TO EXPECT AFTER YOU APPLY:
Once you have had your interview and your application has been processed, you will receive a welcome email outlining how to update your portal. You must login to your portal and complete online training and pass required testing to show that you have a working understanding of the job requirements. You cannot work unless testing is completed. Once you have completed testing, we will verify that you have all required PPE or equipment to perform the work. You will then be placed on a call list and contacted whenever a situation should arise. Declining to participate in an event will not disqualify you from future events however, saying you will participate and then not showing up will.
