SOL Engineering Services, LLC is seeking candidates with construction or engineering experience to support FEMA (Federal Emergency Management Agency) in disaster relief/recovery efforts. If you have previous FEMA experience or experience in construction or engineering AND are currently living in the areas listed below or have the availability to deploy, please submit your resume. (Alaska, Arizona, California, Hawaii, Idaho, Iowa, Kansas, Missouri, Nebraska, Nevada, New York, Oregon, Puerto Rico, Virgin Islands, Washington, the Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands, American Samoa, and Guam.) SOL has a contract with the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA), known as the “Public Assistance Technical Assistance Contract (PA TAC IV)” to provide technical assistance support for FEMA disaster-related operations throughout the U.S. FEMA uses the PA TAC nationally to obtain Environmental Planners, Engineers, Construction Managers, Project Managers, Financial Analysts, Biologists, EHP Specialists and other related professional services to assist state and local municipalities in developing grant applications for Federal Public Assistance funding for the repair of their infrastructure damaged by natural or man-made disasters (roads, bridges, hospitals, schools, water treatment facilities, etc.).

Salary is based upon experience, position requirements, classification criteria and skill level qualifications. Full expenses are paid, (including travel to and from the site, lodging and per diem) in accordance with the GSA schedule. As an employee of SOL Engineering, LLC, you are eligible for benefits.
Special Note:
For our FEMA client, qualified candidates must be U.S. citizens, able to clear Department of Homeland Security background check for security clearance level of “Public Trust”, and open to working 8-12 hours per day for 5-6 days per week. Due to the nature of this type of unpredictable work, you must also have the ability to mobilize within 24-48 hours if ever needed to deploy, commit to up to 3 months or longer on a disaster deployment, and be flexible for contingent type of project work. Patience is needed because we never know when a task order is coming. This is not a predictable job situation since the need is disaster related but personally rewarding.
We are looking for the following experienced professionals:
- Cost Estimator
- Architect
- Engineer (Civil, Structural, Electrical, Coastal, Geotechnical, and Multi-Disciplined)
- Construction Manager (Commercial, Municipal)
- Environmental Planners and Specialists (Biologists, Geologists, and Wetlands Specialists)
Qualifications:
- First-level professionals will possess 2 years of experience in the field of expertise (with an undergraduate degree); or 5 years in the field
- Mid-level professionals with 5 years of experience in the field of expertise (with an undergraduate degree); or 10 years in the field
- Senior professionals will possess 10 years of experience in the field of expertise (with an undergraduate degree); or 15 years in the field
- Ability to deploy and be on-site within 24-48 hours of notification, fully prepared to perform assigned tasks
- Ability to work remotely for up to 3 months or more with the possibility of extension
- Ability to obtain FEMA Suitability via detailed FEMA background investigation
- Active FEMA badge is a plus
- Knowledge of the FEMA PA Program and policy is a plus
- Work with the local government representatives to guide them through the FEMA Public Assistance process
- Perform damage assessments to establish potential eligibility for FEMA funding and extent of applicable damages
- Conduct detailed cost estimates of damages
- Perform project validation reviews and address any inconsistencies, special considerations, and compliance issues with management
- Make hazard mitigation determinations and recommendations to reduce or eliminate the chance of damages occurring in the future
- Provide technical guidance and recommendations to management
- Experience within government or public facilities (including military), medical facilities, schools, transportation (roads and bridges)
- Experience in coastal entities, water/waste treatment or utilities/power
- Ability to work as part of a team to accomplish objectives under a tight deadline
- Proficient in computer usage, MS Word and Excel, and smartphone/text usage
- Must be able to obtain and maintain a federal security clearance through an extensive government background check with fingerprints
- Experience with FEMA Public Assistance is highly desired
- Professional Registration or Certification such as Professional Engineer (PE), Registered Architect, PMP, etc. is preferred
