Job Description

To lead all technical aspects of compounding to drive safety, quality, efficiency, productivity and compliance to GMP requirements. To develop and implement technical plans for the areas of control to meet current and future business needs (training, organization, equipment etc.)

  • Provide solid technical leadership and processing expertise
  • Lead development and execution compounding optimization and improvement projects
    • Collaborate with TSO/R&D/VRO to reduce cycle time, optimize formula and process
    • Propose, develop Technical equipment solutions to improve throughput and capacity, and drive safety and quality
  • Serve as liaison between TSO/R&D and the plant for new product launch
  • Develop and maintain technical training program for new and existing compounders
  • Track and trend CAPAs, deviations, QNs, investigations to reduce rejects

    PRINCIPLE ACCOUNTABILITIES

    Leadership activities (30%)

  • Provide solid technical leadership and processing expertise.
  • Serve as liaison between TSO/R&D and the plant for new product launch
  • Lead development and exeuction of compounding optimization and improvement projects
    • Collaborate with TSO/R&D/VRO to improve batch cycle time, optimize formula and process
    • Develop/facilitate technical equipment solutions to improve throughout and capacity.
  • Resolve Manufacturing/Production issues to meet all objectives.
  • Provide strategic direction, motivation and coaching to members.
  • Drive and improve production team’s performance by measuring key performance indicators and leading activities towards continuous improvement.
  • Carry out quarterly and annual Performance reviews for direct reports.

  • Continuous Improvement (30%)

  • Track and trend CAPAs, deviations, QNs, investigations to reduce
  • Develop and maintain technical training program for new and existing compounders
  • Identify and implement methods to improve overall performance of in Compounding
  • Identify, justify and support Capital Expenditures for compounding
  • Develop, implement and control process improvements for Compounding
  • Responsible for leading lean manufacturing initiatives within the Compounding Area (Lean, Six Sigma)
  • Change Management (20%)

  • Develop and Drive cultural change in Technical Services via a vision, aligned plans and confident leadership.
  • Improve Labor Efficiencies via reducing hours per Batch/Kettle Idle time and Asset Efficiency.
  • Drive Kettle Turn Improvement as per fiscal commitments.
  • Reduce Quality rejects and sustain the gains through CI – standard work and process improvements.
  • Give general and specific direction to Managers in order to meet short term and long term goals.
  • Health & Safety (20%)
  • Ensure complete compliance with all statutory and corporate EHS policies eg. PPE, WHIMS, GMP, ISO 140001, etc.
  • Develop a Safety Culture through Near Miss reporting, BBS and through Accident investigations are the foundation of a ZERO TIR department.
  • Be the Role Model for Safety in the Site – have a zero-tolerance for short-cuts, congestion and rushing.
  • Ensure all changes, new equipment, leadership initiatives are completed with a Safety First philosophy

Qualifications
  • Demonstrated people management capability in the following areas; team building, interpersonal skills, communication and negotiation.
  • Very strong analytical capabilities.
  • Proven Problem Solving capabilities through formal training.
  • Floor leadership, knowledge of Operations and Continuous Improvement.

    A University Degree in Engineering, Science or Technical related field. Chemical Engineering degree a plus.
    10 years in a Manufacturing or R&D environment with demonstrated progression through various levels of management and responsibilities.
