Position Description: Vocera is looking for a Director of Revenue with strong technical, strategic, and operational skills who will lead our global revenue accounting operations. This key role will provide leadership, support to the business, and day-to-day management and oversight of all aspects relating to revenue accounting. This position reports to the VP, Controller.
Responsibilities- Partner effectively with the Commercial leadership team to drive bookings and revenue goals through strategic decision making while ensuring compliance with internal policies and GAAP
- Key member of the finance leadership team. Goals will include partnering with the business, accurately reporting revenue, and driving value creation for the business
- Own the development and implementation of revenue policies and procedures including review of contracts to ensure proper revenue recognition
- Oversee accounting research and implementation of new revenue accounting standards and ensure all policies are documented and applied globally
- Drive the month and quarter-end close processes for the revenue team while supporting FP&A in building bookings and revenue forecasts
- Serve as a core team member for strategic initiatives (potential M&A, operating plans, profitability analysis)
- Demonstrated effective verbal and written communication skills; able to understand, apply and explain complex accounting theories, concepts, and processes in ways that non-technical partners can understand
- Deep understanding and working knowledge of U.S. GAAP revenue recognition rules. Experience with ASC 606
- Experienced at working effectively across multiple levels of an organization and building successful cross functional partnerships

- BA or BS in Finance/Accounting or equivalent
- CPA certification or equivalent preferred
- 15+ years of combined industry and public finance and accounting experience, preferably in high tech (with a minimum of 8+ years in leadership roles)
- Deep understanding and demonstrated experience in proper revenue accounting processes under current revenue recognition methodologies for software, hardware, and multiple arrangements
- SAP and RevPro experience is a strong plus
