YOUR TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The primary responsibilities of this role, Director Principal Thought Leader Liaison are to:
- Align with cross functional TL (Thought Leader) engagement plans, the PTLL orchestrates resources with the top 10%-15% of identified KOLs (Key Opinion Leaders);
- Assist the MSL (Medical Science Liaison) and office-based colleagues with the identifying, cultivating and maintaining longstanding relationships with national and regional TLs, speaker bureau faculty, and advisors;
- Identify, develop, and measure TL advocacy aligned to key scientific messages;
- Enhance TL advocacy through compliant engagements with senior leaders, medical, marketing and other internal brand partners;
- Support TL influence-mapping initiatives developing profiles and engagement / communication plans for each assigned TLs within the region;
- Plan and execute TL engagements and executive encounters at/during field engagements national conferences and other venues in a complaint manner;
- Serve as an ambassador for USMA regarding relationships with national medical societies/organizations (e.g., ASN, NKF, ADA, AHA) in collaboration with the advocacy team;
- Monitor TL opinions about current and future treatment patterns that may impact the Cardiorenal portfolio and provide feedback to USMA leadership for consideration in the development of portfolio and medical content and strategic plans;
- Work with Field Medical Strategist and training to identify and contribute to the training needs of the field based MSL;
- Work with Medical, Marketing and Sales Management to identify and recruit TLs for national advisory boards;
- Lead the execution of MSL-led regional advisory boards;
- Assist medical team with TL recruitment for ad hoc initiatives such as medical training initiatives, presentations at medical and sales meetings, scientific content development for medical programs, presentations to office-based Bayer employees, etc.;
- Lead implementation of field Medical activities in support of new nephrology clinical trial (both Ph III and P IV);
- Establish, enhance and maintain Bayer’s relationships with national and top tier level Thought Leaders within the CV&R Franchise;
- Share enhanced clinical knowledge via peer to peer support as appropriate;
- Provide insights to internal partners which contribute to decision making and process improvement;
- Enhance TL advocacy through compliant engagements with senior leaders, medical, marketing and other internal brand partners;
- Discover additional portfolio opportunities for CV&R Franchise via expert consultation;
- Enhances Bayer’s value proposition to customers.

Required Qualifications:
- Doctorate Degree (M.D., D.O., Ph.D., Pharm.D.);
- At least five years of experience in Nephrology, Cardiology/Heart Failure and/or Diabetes;
- At least four years of pharmaceutical industry as an MSL, clinical or research experience in the same or relevant therapeutic area;
- Has a well-developed and effective customer relationship network around one marketed product or indication in the relevant therapeutic area;
- Has in depth insight into customer needs and requirements around one marketed product or indication in the relevant therapeutic area and uses this insight to anticipate customer needs;
- Demonstrate fluency in articulating complex scientific concepts and data;
- Excellent project management ability;
- Excellent oral and written communication skills and interpersonal skills;
- Ability to critically evaluate clinical papers;
- Proven ability to understand customer segments and market trends;
- Ability to work in a team environment;
- Ability to build productive work relationships both internally and externally;
- Strong leadership ability and scientific acumen;
- Demonstrated expertise in the drug discovery and drug development process;
- Strong interpersonal skills including the ability to listen actively and synthesize information in a meaningful way;
- Exceptional organizational skills;
- Excellent communication (verbal and writing) skills with proven ability to present to large and small audience;
- Demonstrate fluency in articulating complex scientific concepts and data;
- Good judgment, ability to adapt and change in a shifting environment;
- Strategic, passionate, self-starter who takes initiative;
- Strong understanding of the laws, regulations and rules governing the pharmaceutical industry;
- Work well in large and small teams and ability to work remotely;
- Ability to travel 60%-70% of the time.
