Reporting Relationship: Reports to the Vice President, Pharmacology & Toxicology
The Opportunity:
We are seeking an experienced pharmacologist to oversee the design, delivery, and interpretation of preclinical pharmacology data in support of our research pipeline. The successful candidate will engage with research teams to provide guidance on pharmacology models and strategy; prioritize and manage the pharmacology workflow; manage a team of direct reports; actively participate in the IACUC; and be responsible for the preparation of technical reports and summaries for regulatory submission.
Professional Responsibilities:
- Provide scientific oversight of an AAALAC-accredited animal facility housing mice and rats
- Ensure the delivery of high-quality in vivo pharmacology data for internal decision-making, external communication, or regulatory submission.
- Manage and mentor a team of animal care and research staff
- Develop protocols, ensure compliance with company guidelines and policies, and actively participate in the IACUC
- Serve as pharmacology representative in cross-functional teams
- Coordinate with research teams to select or develop appropriate models and identify outsourcing opportunities for specialized models
- Bring in new models and techniques to say at the cutting edge
- Present pharmacology strategy and data to research organization and senior management
- Prepare in vivo study technical reports and summaries for regulatory submission
- Follow laboratory safety guidelines and practices

Education/Experience: *
- PhD degree in pharmacology, immunology, cancer biology or a related field, and 15+ years of relevant industry experience with 5 or more years of management experience

Professional Requirements: *
- Track record of leadership in the area of in vivo pharmacology
- Detailed understanding of mouse tumor models and their role in oncology drug development
- Thorough understanding of laboratory animal science, and the role of the IACUC
- Excellent communication skills and experience in working with multidisciplinary teams
- Ability to prioritize, anticipate challenges, execute on goals and manage ambiguity
- Focus on effective mentoring and development of staff
- Excellent technical writing ability with track record of authoring quality nonclinical summaries, technical reports for regulatory submission and/or publications
- A scientific seminar is required for all interviewing candidates
