Job Description
Brandeis University seeks to hire an energetic and visionary Director for the Brandeis Counseling Center. This person will be responsible for providing leadership, vision and management direction for department and overseeing the delivery of counseling services available to all Brandeis students. The Director is responsible for program design and assessment, policy and procedure development, human resources administration, and fiscal accountability consistent with the mission, goals and priorities of the department, division, and University. Has oversight of a robust professional training program. Selects, supervises, and evaluates psychiatrists, clinical psychologists, social workers, and other counselors who provide clinical, developmental, and/or educational services. Our team consists of about 20 full and part time clinicians. The Director provides input, guidance and support to the retention and promotion processes for clinic staff. Serves as an institutional leader regarding the mental health and well-being of students and collaborates with other departments on programs, services, policy development and crisis response/management. Establishes and enhances consultative and collaborative relationships with members of the campus community and external communities in the furtherance of student personal and academic success. - Directs all facets of supervision and management of Brandeis's Counseling Center, including formulating, implementing, and communicating the vision, mission, priorities and strategy for the clinic and is responsible for program design and assessment, policy and procedure development, human resources administration, and fiscal accountability.
- Oversees a post-doctoral training program, and a pre-doctoral and MSW training program.
- Recruits, hires, supervises, develops and evaluates all professional and support staff.
- Builds and sustains a clinical team that is committed to and competent in supporting students who represent a broadly diverse range of backgrounds and identities. Provides for ongoing clinical staff training within a social justice framework.
- Serves as a resource for University community and student groups on mental health and wellness advocacy issues. Serves as the key University liaison on mental health issues, policy, and practices; collaborates and maintains close relationships with administrative offices on matters pertaining to individual student health and general welfare of the student body. Participates on University committees including but not limited to as Chair of Health and Wellness Task Force; attends Care Team meetings.
- Maintains assessment and evaluation data and reporting related to utilization, effectiveness, trends, etc; prepares annual strategic plans, including review of previous years; prepares annual reports; designs and implements assessment metrics of outcomes; pursues grant-funding/fundraising for outreach, prevention programming and support for services.
