Job Description
Primary Duties and ResponsibilitiesHoag’s Digital Team is on a mission to transform the digital ecosystem within healthcare, with a strong focus on becoming partners to our customers’ pursuit of their health goals and outcomes. As part of this journey, we are evolving both our digital product and design functions. The Principal of Product – Digital will take leadership of our product team overall. In this role, you will have the opportunity to inspire a group of product managers given the chance to truly re-define key moments of today’s healthcare experience and impact the lives and well-being of all Hoag members and beyond. You will lead a group of product managers who bring a blend of healthcare and non-healthcare backgrounds and experiences as they collaborate with our internal design team and other crucial stakeholders on customer outcomes key to Hoag’s digital strategy. This role will have the opportunity to define our digital product process from scratch, from how we leverage cadences of user research through team tooling to the evolution of our product strategy. Most importantly, the Principal of Product will own the translation of our team’s wider digital strategy into a digital product portfolio that validates strategic assumptions in an iterative way to cement our target destination in the healthcare market to help Hoag make the desired impact in our customers’ lives. Key duties and responsibilities include:
  • Guide the team on the creation and constant shaping of our broader digital product strategy including our intended place in the market amidst the competitive landscape and translating this destination into a set of digital product portfolio pieces (mobile applications, websites) and the associated roadmap that gets us there
  • Drive the “iterative loop” of our product management practice from ideation through in-the-wild testing to analytics gathering/tracking, including nuances of day-to-day strategic decision-making and prioritization
  • Support assigned product managers, on a more outcome/asset level, define their granular product strategies (acquisition, operations, user experience, retention, segmentation, use of data)
  • Be a hands-on product thinker across the team to help our product managers achieve milestones against their individual outcomes through the year
  • Hire, mentor, guide, and inspire a team of product managers across their day-to-day workstreams as well as career paths and personal development goals
  • Establish a P&L responsibility mindset and practice across the set of digital portfolio assets the team is launching

Education and ExperienceRequired:
  • Bachelors’ degree OR equivalent practical experience required; Ten plus (10+) years of experience in digital product development, marketing or technology, with exposure to rigorous and large-scale program and product management required
  • Experience developing roadmaps and immersive experiences to drive customer engagement and acquisition. Experience leading product & design talent required
  • Experience with crafting product strategy for large organizations from scratch and owning its translation into a digital portfolio of products with a strong lean and test-and-learn mentality and process
  • Ability to build strong cross functional relationships across creative, non-creative, and technical stakeholders
  • Strong listening, communication, negotiation, and presentation skills
  • Able to thrive in an ambiguous environment, helping to bring structure and deliver results
  • Ability to partner directly with technology scrum teams to translate product requirements and user stories into technology sizing estimates and requirements required. Resourceful and results-oriented self-starter, with an ability to thrive in an authentic, feedback-driven culture and "roll-up-your-sleeves" environment required
  • Ability to synthesize distinct data points into a clear strategic set of priorities and gain sponsorship for direction required. Ability to identify and address program execution needs in a fast-paced environment. Driving an innovation process from conceptualization through to launch.
Preferred:
  • Exposure to lean and Agile practices, (ability to adapt agile tools a plus) preferred.
