Directs all aspects of payroll operations. Leads the timely and accurate delivery of payroll processes and procedures including taxes and finance demands regarding payroll payments. Responsible for maintaining NKU’s payroll system through SAP. Oversee the input and integrity of all pay related data entered by payroll department; Oversee consistent and timely company-wide payroll operations and ensures compliance with applicable tax and wage/hour laws; Responsible for production of W-2 Forms and related year-end reporting; works with HR regarding employee pay-related issues, which include overpayments, late pay, deductions, and related pay adjustments; Manages team of Payroll associates, which including hiring, assigning work, evaluating performance and providing opportunities for staff development and recognition; Serves as functional business owner of the payroll system; maintains a high level of understating of best-in-class operations through continuing education, benchmarking, and forming cross-functional partnerships
Primary ResponsibilitiesSAP processes, functionality of system, updates to tables, taxes, changes to configuration regarding payroll, benefits testing, updates to system, time systems (Ops & Maintenance, CAI)
Resolve payroll processing issues, provide direction to staff, and respond to employee questions regarding taxes, tuition waiver taxes, updates to tax law, wage and hour law.
Processing tax returns quarterly and annually.
Processing W2’s and 8233’s annually
Plan testing strategies for payroll system modi?cations and new software/hardware installations.
Enhance payroll processing guidelines and create audits that will ensure university disbursements are appropriate
Communicate payroll department procedures and policy updates to payroll sta? while serving as a liaison for the department to the university community.
Provide direct supervision to payroll sta? (i.e., hiring/?ring, performance evaluations, disciplinary action, approve time o?, etc.).
QualificationsBachelor’s degree must be in business administration or related field.
Five (5) years of financial/administrative or payroll experience.
Previous supervision experience.
