Director of Marketing for major University performing arts center, with responsibility for articulating and crafting public image, establishing market position, maximizing earned revenue and developing and executing all stages of marketing and audience development, patron services along with overall responsibility for editorial content and design of promotional materials in all media.
Principal Responsibilities:
· Articulate the public image of Tilles Center
· Establish Tilles Center’s market position
· Maximize earned revenue through ticket sales
· Work together with Executive Director to set yearly sales goals
· Develop and administer a strategic marketing plan for the performing arts season
· Develop and administer marketing plans for individual presentations which includes, but is not limited to:
o Determining media mix
o Understanding target audience
o Tracking sales patterns
· Selects and supervises outside consultants on marketing and design strategy
· Work with Patron Services to understand and respond to customer needs and expectations
· Conduct research and surveys to identify market trends and community needs
· Advise Executive Director on long-range artistic planning in the interest of maintaining established audiences and developing new audiences
· Oversee editorial content of website and all print and digital publications and media
· Supervises staff in the area of all print and online collateral, including program notes, brochures, print and online advertising, web content management and patron services
· Learn about and utilize new technologies to reach new audiences and serve customer needs
Education Requirements
· Bachelor’s Degree required, Master’s preferred or equivalent experience.
Training, Skills, Knowledge, Experience:
· Minimum ten years of experience in marketing and promotions, preferably in the arts.
· Understanding of issues/challenges of non-profits and the arts.
· Public speaking is required.
· Excellent interpersonal skills.
· Strong organization, oral and written communication skills.
· Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
· Strong attention to detail.
· Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively.
· Understanding of and affinity for new technology.
· Strong Computer skills (MS Office; Excel)
Working Conditions
This position requires evening and weekend hours. Some travel may be required.
