Position Description
The position of Director of Human Resources oversees and manages the human resources programs including recruitment, training, employee relations, compensation, benefits, performance evaluation, payroll, and policy/procedure development and implementation. This position reports to the Vice President for Finance and Operations. The position is an exempt, 12-month, 1.0 FTE position.

Essential Functions:
- Be a leading voice on campus in the resourcing of NNU culture development
- Support the Office of HR team values to provide excellent service and build positive relationships on campus with a focus on building and maintaining culture
- Provide leadership to the Office of Human Resources and Payroll team
- Consult with Vice Presidents, Deans, Directors and other managers on personnel and employment relations issues, provide regular training to campus supervisors
- Manager the strategic compensation and benefits planning, including overseeing both the University’s salary and wage programs and employee benefit programs
- Oversee and administer the staff performance evaluation process
- Develop and update human resource policies, procedures and practices in collaboration with the Senior Leadership Team, provide input on improvement and policy
- Interpret NNU employee-related policies and procedures to insure compliance to the Staff Policy Manual, state and federal law, the I-9 and hiring process, etc.
- Administration of Human Resources Information System (HRIS) in Paylocity
- Establish and maintain relationships with broker and benefit vendors
- Assure compliance with all applicable state and federal laws
- Act as a liaison and the “people” representative in various committee assignments
Minimum Qualifications:
- A bachelor’s degree is required; preference will be given to those with studies in human resources, business, public administration, or a related field
- Professional Human Resources certification preferred, may be obtained within one year of employment
- Administrative experience with a thorough understanding of employment, labor, benefit and related laws
- The candidate must demonstrate high motivation and commitment to the University, including the ability to self-start, be calm under pressure, meet deadlines in a deadline-oriented environment, work with minimal supervision, tolerate ambiguity, and relate to a variety of personalities under diverse circumstances
- The candidate must demonstrate strong communication skills (both oral and written) and the candidate must be able to work with and maintain confidential information
- Proficiency with HRIS systems
- Strong Microsoft Excel, Word and Power Point skills
- Ability to present and speak well in large gatherings
- Excellent interpersonal skills
- Candidates must be a person of Christian faith (preferably with a Wesleyan Theological persuasion), and be comfortable with and in agreement with the mission and lifestyle values of NNU
Compensation
The salary will be determined by the educational background and experience of each applicant and will be discussed with individual candidates as they are invited to interview for this position.
