Position Highlights:
The Director of Finance is the lead financial officer for the CON. The Director oversees the planning/direction of the CON operational budget, strategically plans enrollment, updates all relevant business plans, oversees the fiscal functions of the research, clinical practice and philanthropic revenue and ensures synergy with University operational budgets/strategies. This role collectively comprises the revenue management and expense functions within CON and as such is a direct report to the Dean. The Director also indirectly reports to the Chief Financial Business Officer as a liaison to University Finance, Research, and other organizational partners on fiscal matters related to CON financial operations. The individual who holds this position exemplifies the Rush mission, vision and values and acts in accordance with Rush policies and procedures.

Position Responsibilities:
Develops and executes strategies that have significant impact on the CON's financial performance and financial plan. This direction is done in tandem with University financial leadership to ensure fiscal stability, integrity to mission and growth
Collaborates with College of Nursing leadership to review financial feasibility and provide pro forma proposals to ensure interdependencies between specific area of functional oversight and other areas within CON have appropriate hand-offs.
Proactively communicates to achieve seamless workflows and achievement of overall CON Finance objectives.
Oversees CON operational budget for functional areas of responsibility and ensures the CON budget aligns with university budget strategy.
Oversees implementation, direction and policy development of finance areas (revenue/expense management), professional fee billing, grants/contracts, and academic appointment processing and effort allocations.
Initiates, negotiates and manages professional service agreements, and provides final recommendations to the Dean.
Conducts regular education and training on financial metrics, technical skills, and other relevant financial and operational concepts to the CON community.
Oversees, recruits, and guides the activities of key direct reports with administrative and financial responsibilities, ensuring optimization of human capital.
Consistently promotes and supports a team approach to innovation in CON programs and problem solving in collaboration with other CON stakeholders
Develops and maintains effective working relationships with peer managers both internal and external to the organization.
Stays abreast of industry changes impacting functional area and CON Finance; identifies potential impact and required changes; strives to promote best practices in CON finance.
Ensures adherence to organizational policies and procedures as it pertains to CON finance.
Performs related duties as required.
Finance (65%)
Prepares, maintains, and monitors the annual CON operational budget in conjunction with CON senior leadership's vision.
Responsible for updating the CON's five-year business plan.
Responsible for directing any financial communications to internal/external stakeholders.
Develops and coordinates with other fiscal leads and distributes all relevant financial data on a regular basis
Develops and manage CON's financial accounting, monitoring, and reporting systems.
Maintain relations with internal and external partners.
Collaborates with Chief Financial Business Officer of the University on all CON financial matters.
Provides and interprets financial information for senior CON leadership/reports regularly.
Responsible for creation of regular projections for all CON operating units.
Actively contributes to the strategic planning process of the CON as part of the college leadership team.

Strategic Enrollment Oversight (35%)
Ensures recruitment objectives, targets , budgets, policies, practices, and actions produce successful student recruitment results, consistent with CON's overall mission and strategic and master plans.
Directs the analysis and reporting of recruitment efforts, statistics, measures, and outcomes.
Collaborates with senior management and the admissions staff to develop and implement enrollment models and statistical reports, track and project admissions, and develop student profile reports that indicate predictors of enrollment success.
Collaborates with CON staff to create long and short-term planning and evaluation of recruitment strategies and programs, including resource management.
Reports to leadership on the relationship of all recruitment efforts measures to outcomes (submitted applications, enrolled students, and diversity of student body).
Collaborates with CON Admissions and Recruitment, academic program directors, Assistant/Associate deans and Department chairs to formulate long-range strategic application/admission/enrollment policies that will support an integrated end-to-end enrollment management process
Sets target enrollment numbers in collaboration with CON program directors and administration.
Regularly monitors tuition revenue stream to forecast future enrollment targets.
Collaborates with the Academic Affairs team to disseminate student data to faculty and senior leadership as needed.

Position Qualifications Include:
Bachelor's degree with 4-7 years of progressive experience in higher education fiscal work (research, administration, financial management, etc.)
Understanding of fiscal management of grants, philanthropic gifts, and GAAP
Excellent verbal and communication skills.
Excellent working knowledge and experience with MS Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Access
Strong time management and organizational skills.
Strong problem solving and financial analytical skills.
Ability to interact professionally with all levels of employees.
