Purpose and Scope
Enterprise Information & Data Architecture is responsible for establishing sound technical information architectures, roadmaps, blueprints and strategies aligning IT designs to business requirements. This individual will plan, design and execute long-range technology roadmaps which anticipate future business needs, maximize IT investments and deliver innovative architectural solutions to the business. The role will drive continuous improvement around quality and efficiency of the enterprise technology function. This Director will use industry standard frameworks and methodologies to ensure quality, reliability and scale for key enterprise data & information technologies which will serve as platforms to be built upon by numerous functional groups.


Duties & Responsibilities

Principal Duties and Responsibilities


  • Propose and set standards for the authority wide data & information standards for next generation Information architecture.
  • Product owner for Information architecture platforms, including on-prem and cloud based Data warehouse, Data Lake/Hub, ETL, Reporting, Analytics and Visualization
  • Interfacing with departments to understanding their Information management needs and leading solution architecture roadmap to satisfy their needs.
  • Support and sustain existing databases and reporting platforms.
  • Developing long range plans to implement, scale and sustain the modern information architecture solution.
  • Develops and Hires skilled resources and partners to provide eco-system for continuous improvement of Information architecture solutions.
  • Develops, measure and report KPI’s for Information architecture portfolio.
  • Owner for developing Data governance and security rules for master data management across the authority
  • Serves as ultimate escalation point for enterprise technology architecture topics and issues
  • Maintain alignment on priorities and deliverables with key business stakeholders
  • Implement standard frameworks and methodologies and increase maturity level of Information architectural acumen
  • Develop and Implement Enterprise service bus and related integration best practices to improve information sharing among various applications.
  • Owner of Information management service catalog, including Tools, Technology & Processes
  • Manage team of Database management, Data architects, Data analysts and Data Scientists
  • Serve as SME for all technical aspects of the enterprise wide information architecture and associated technical components
  • Perform all other duties and projects that may be assigned

Minimum Requirements & Qualifications

Minimum Education


  • Bachelor’s degree Computer Science or related field from an accredited institution
Minimum Experience and Required Skills
  • Ten (10) years plus of experience in Data and Information architecture related roles.
  • Seven (7) years of supervisory experience.
  • Experience in enterprise system and/or application architecture strongly preferred
  • Strong interpersonal/liaison skills for interfacing with senior management, vendors, project team members, and end-users
  • Ability to work with many different types of professionals and in a fast-paced environment
  • Prior project experience with large-scale application architecture integration
  • An architect-like mentality to be able to counsel stakeholders on the pros and cons of requested customization and integration
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Advanced Microsoft Project and Visio skills required
  • Advanced Excel skills (VMA and macros) a plus
  • Excellent organizational, analytical, multi-tasking, time management and documentation skills
  • Experience with complete Data lifecycle management and tools

  • Experience/comfort with interacting with the all levels of the organization including C-level executives, project team’s members, stakeholders, and end-users.
  • Ability to comprehend, communicate, and respond to instructions, orders, signs, notices, inquiries, etc. in English
  • Ability to provide internal and external customers with courteous and professional experiences
  • Ability to supervise or work effectively with diverse workforce

  • Ability to pass a Criminal Offender Record Information (CORI) check, comprehensive background screening, and role appropriate MBTA’s medical clinic screening, potentially including a physical examination and drug and alcohol screening
