Job Purpose
We are seeking a Director of Electrical Engineering to head our Energy Storage Systems group. The position will report in to our Corporate Headquarters in Reading, PA and will report to the VP Electronics and Systems Engineering. We are looking for an industry expert to play a lead role in further developing and growing this business, with particular product focus on ESS for Commercial Building to offer a turnkey solution.
The successful candidate will have demonstrated system level experience for behind/and in-front of the meter ESS, a track record of project management and operations, and demonstrated ability to work in high performing teams.
Essential Duties and ResponsibilitiesDevelop engineering design concepts for custom projects that meet customer specs/requirements
Turn design concepts into complete engineered solutions, including providing drafts of engineering drawings and bills of materials (BOMs)
Develop complete costs estimates based on engineered concepts, supporting customer bid and RFQ processes
Lead and contribute to proposals to develop, test, and evaluate the performance of energy storage systems.
Perform technical and operational due diligence, and develop O&M cost assumptions in support of new ESS opportunity evaluations.
It would be ideal, if you are also experienced in battery management system technologies or PCS studies like ESS, modeling, grid simulations or MATLAB Simulink
Previous engineering experience with grid-connected power electronics for solar, Wind, or other renewable power generation, or grid-connected batteries
Strong knowledge of electrical systems and equipment applicable to the engineering and construction of generation facilities.
Knowledgeable in renewable and electrical safety and performance standards, such as UL1741, ISO61508 or IEC61850; familiarity with the National Electric Code
Familiarity with data acquisition systems and SCADA systems a plus
Candidate must be innovative, with strong troubleshooting skills and must be flexible, with the ability to organize, prioritize, execute and follow up on many concurrent duties, as well as adapt quickly to changes in business priorities.
Planning and project management skills for multiple change efforts
Qualifications- MSEE., PhD. EE or other relevant field with 4-6 year experience as Director of Electrical Engineering
- Experience developing or testing hardware and software technologies for ESS applications
- Demonstrated technical expertise in a professional role in distributed energy resource (DER) technologies, such as energy storage or solar PV
- Development of integrated hardware/software test stands using LabView or similar toolsets
- Ability to understand big picture problems, and capable of applying this understanding to solve applied, real-world problems
- Skilled oral and written communicator
- Effectively collaborates in a team environment
- This position will work in an office setting, expect minimal physical demands.
