The Director of Career Services and Business Engagement will engage local businesses in Northern Virginia to build and enhance regional talent pipelines that meet sector hiring and development needs while growing employment opportunities. Increase career awareness and job opportunities for NOVA students. The Director establishes and maintains on-going relationships with various college departments, college leadership and regional employers. The Director Joins forces with regional partners to position Northern Virginia as the global leader in talent development. This position reports directly to the Vice President of Strategy, Research and Workforce Innovation.

Job Duties/Responsibilities:
  • Oversee college-wide career services, which includes employer engagement for job and internships postings.
  • Develop and execute the college’s career services strategy while dramatically enhancing the college’s employer partnerships.
  • Serve as the point person for the division’s effort to build a first of its kind talent guarantee to assist employers searching for and growing local talent in high demand areas.
  • Collaborate with college-wide and community-wide partners.
  • Develop and deliver results/metrics, which are critical to the success of this role.
  • Supervise a team of professionals and oversees the new Business Engagement Center, NOVA’s front door for the employer community.

Special Assignments

May be required to perform other duties as assigned. May be required to assist the agency or state government generally in the event of an emergency declaration by the Governor.

Qualifications:
  • Earned master’s degree from a regionally accredited college or university.
  • Five years of experience with progressive responsibilities as an administrator in a community college and/or university setting.
  • Experience in college career services.
  • Experience in developing, managing, and leveraging relationships with external partners (e.g., employers, donors).
  • Demonstrated proficiency with the use of data, evidence, and analysis in decision-making.
  • Demonstrated understanding of and commitment to the community college mission.
  • Demonstrated commitment to equity and inclusion in student access and outcomes.
  • Demonstrated ability to work with diverse stakeholders to achieve consensus.
