Responsibilities & Duties:WHAT YOU'LL DO
Director, International Tax

Responsible for leading and managing all corporate-level tax matters for multiple international jurisdictions (10-15 countries) including but not limited to corporate income taxation, international cross-border taxation, value added and other indirect taxation, and corporate remittance withholding taxes. In addition, the Director will lead and manage the coordination and collaboration of corporate tax compliance, corporate tax audit defense and identify/implement corporate tax planning matters with respective local finance teams and local external tax advisors. The Director will be responsible for the optimization and minimization of Bain Group’s international corporate tax expense by the timely identification and implementation of tax planning opportunities, ensuring timely and accurate foreign and US international tax compliance, and appropriate documentation to support statutory compliance and audit requirements.
RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Direct and coordinate all aspects of tax forecasting, planning, compliance and audit inquiries for multiple international jurisdictions and the identification, implementation and execution of legally defensible tax minimization planning, including:
  • Development and implementation of tools and procedures to ensure that tax compliance reflects legally optimal, defensible tax filing positions applied consistently
  • Directing international controllers and international tax advisors to ensure consistent quality and adherence to global principles across multiple jurisdictions.
  • Directing the collaboration with local operating finance teams, and external advisors to develop strategies to respond to proposed or pending tax legislation, changing economic and business conditions, and the proactive defense and technical support of tax filing positions on audit.
  • Identify and evaluate the tax effect and implications of international business initiatives, contemplated transactions, and business proposals to advise senior management of the US and international corporate tax implications.
  • Review and research international tax questions for tax planning, tax accounting and tax compliance purposes.
  • Direct and lead Global Finance and Treasury in managing the corporate and F/X tax matters pertaining to cross-border cash remittances to/from local Bain office operations.
  • Direct and lead Global Finance, Legal and HR Teams to assist with scoping and establishing foreign filing requirements for new entities and changes to current structure.
  • Manage the preparation and determination of the consolidated annual international income tax provision for all Bain offices, including preparation of FIN 48 memos and related analysis.
  • Lead process improvements and integration of tax and statutory reporting functions to achieve optimal efficiency, effective controls and quality, maintaining ongoing development, implementation and documentation with all applicable statutory reporting and tax procedures, ensuring that Company’s exposure is limited in the event of audit.
  • Lead and coordinate with Global FP&A the annual preparation of estimated global tax expense for budget and reforecasting purposes, and develop and maintain a standardized approach to bridge international tax expense consolidation as reported for US GAAP and Global FP&A purposes, providing consistency and a high degree of jurisdictional visibility.
  • Address contemporaneous international employee compensation and benefits projects as assigned, and collaborate with Tax Director, local controllers and advisors to ensure that employment related issues are addressed and timely resolved to meet corporate objectives.
  • Perform administrative and general work as required to achieve results accurately, efficiently and effectively, including providing guidance and counsel to operating offices in the negotiation of fees and invoicing arrangements.

Required
  • 10-12 years of international tax experience in a Big 4 public accounting firm, large law firm, and/or multinational corporation.
  • Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance, CPA preferred.
  • Must have strong understanding of accounting concepts, proficient knowledge of international taxation of corporations, individuals and partnerships.
  • Advanced computer skills including proficiency in Excel, Word, and online research software
  • Detail-oriented individual who takes ownership of projects, and possess excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability and willingness to do a broad range of international tax work including transfer pricing analysis, tax planning and implementation focusing on both corporate and compensation and benefits issues, tax audit assistance and compliance review.
  • Ability to independently manage and execute multiple projects.
