The Platform Engineering (PE) organization within Salesforce Business Technology delivers meaningful tech experiences through enterprise-wide solutions and infrastructure services to scale Salesforce growth. The Director, Infrastructure Engineering role within PE is responsible for the design, delivery, and operation of Virtual Desktop as a Service (VDAS) and Salesforce China services. The position leads teams located in North America and APAC.

The desired candidate will have a history of implementing technical standards, working in an agile model, defining global processes and establishing governance and controls procedures. The role has accountability for financial management related to operating VDAS & China Cloud infrastructure and is expected to manage vendor relationships with regards to net new services, maintenance and support.

Both the VDAS domain and China Cloud domain are high growth, widespread services for our Business Technology organization. In addition to maintaining a high service level, this role will heavily focus on the roadmap for both domains and work to build new capabilities that align to broader business outcomes. People and organizational development is critical to the ongoing success of this role, as is maintaining our cultural values while maturing our daily operating practices.

A key member of the Infrastructure leadership team, collaboration and partnership with all Platform Engineering, application development and operations, and end-user support teams are essential to the success of this role.

Responsibilities:

• Lead the IT Infrastructure services team responsible for VDAS & BizTech China Cloud services
• Define and implement organizational level agreements with key stakeholders and partners
• Ensure customer focus and satisfaction amongst internal customers and key stakeholders
• Adopt and integrate VDAS environments from acquired companies
• Partner with Enterprise Security & Internal Audit to ensure full compliance with Salesforce security policies for all VDAS & Salesforce China services
• Partner with product management to create and implement a consistent and predictable work management practice across our global teams
• Manage VDAS & Salesforce China budget. Provide financial forecasting for IT long-range plans
• Manage cloud infrastructure assets, in partnership with Infrastructure Asset Management team
• Develop, implement, and maintain IT Infrastructure policies and standard operating procedures
• Measure and track team performance to achieve planned deliverables
• Identify opportunities to improve team efficiency and productivity
• Remain current with the latest technologies and industry best practices
• Mentor, manage, and motivate a high-performing team of managers and engineers and set clear priorities to achieve goals and KPI’s.
• Drive modernization, automation, optimization to continuously improve operational effectiveness, agility, performance, availability and cost to serve.
  

Experience & Skills:

• 6+ years of experience leading a technology-focused organization
• Strong collaboration, communication, people management, and coaching skills are essential for this role
• Experience in managing 24/7 geographically dispersed engineering & operations teams
• Knowledge of software development methodologies, agile development
• Expertise in managing multi-cloud-based Infrastructure solutions
• Expert knowledge of incident, problem and change management processes
• Previous experience of managing an end-to-end infrastructure organization and building a multi-year improvement strategy
