The Director, Head of Content – who is a storyteller at heart – plays a key role in the overall strategic direction and management of the Social Media / Social Video teams and the related content + channels.
This leader will drive social media marketing strategies through a content-focused brand lens. From ideation to creation to execution, this individual will ensure all Social Media content that is created by (and for) the brand is working hard to push Savage X forward and consistently elevates the brand through our distinct POV. The Director, Head of Content acts as a strategic connector between the information shared by cross-functional teams and our final creative product: Social Media content that drives growth. They must demonstrate strong judgement, be resourceful, have a sharp eye for detail, thrive in a fast-paced environment and be able to excel in cross functional collaboration with multiple internal and external partners. This role is multi-disciplined as we look for a candidate that not only has deep understanding and thought leadership in the social media / content / influencer spaces, but also one who can rise to any occasion and take ownership of high-profile tasks.
This position will report to the Sr. Director, Brand Strategy & Content.
What You Will Do:
- Work closely with the Sr. Director, Brand Strategy & Content to define overarching social media and channel-specific content strategies and how best to leverage the team to flawlessly achieve our aggressive / lofty goals.
- Develop, implement, and manage the content strategy to drive consumer demand and brand virality by leveraging the power of social media, key influencers, trending topics, and platform changes that impact branded content.
- Oversee the Social Media and Social Video teams to drive content creation and channel growth.
- Lead the end-to-end process for all original content projects coming out of the Social Media / Social Video teams.
- Drive the dissemination of Social content created + curated by the team.
- Meticulously ensure connective tissue between owned channel content and product priorities is clear, consistent, strategic, and engaging with an eye toward growth.
- Strategize new ways to incorporate short-form video content into the current creation flow, including new process for campaign shoots, fresh ideas for leveraging relationships with influencers etc. Create a standalone process for elevated short-form video content.
- Support the Sr. Director, Brand Strategy & Content in reviewing UGC, IGC, and paid influencer content to ensure there are no elements that could create unwanted PR or social commentary.
- Along with the Sr. Social Strategist, work closely with the Brand Ambassador team to manage organic social content requests for BAs and brainstorm content ideas for BAs that support key initiatives or content needs (e.g., TikTok videos, unboxings etc.).
- Stay abreast of competitive social media, influencer marketing, and content strategies and make recommendations on how the brand can stay a step ahead.
- Manage internal content approvals.
- Maintain confidentiality and understand the sensitive nature of our work to protect brand integrity.
- Manage and provide leadership to direct reports on the Brand Content & Strategy team.
What You Will Bring:
- Bachelor’s degree with an emphasis in social media, marketing, communications, or public relations preferred or relevant experience.
- 5 to 7 years experience in social media, content marketing, and / or brand marketing. Entertainment, celebrity, or consumer brand experience a plus.
- 3+ years experience directly owning the social media channels and content strategy of a mid-to-large brand, including copywriting or review and calendaring.
- Deep understanding of social media platforms and up to date on industry + platform trends (Instagram, Reels, TikTok, YouTube, etc.)
- Excellent verbal, interpersonal and written communication skills.
- Detail-oriented, highly organized, and able to manage multiple projects efficiently.
- Ability to troubleshoot and work in a fast-paced environment.
- Proficient in Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook.
- Knowledgeable about the social media and digital marketing landscape.
- Must be an idea generator.
- Strong analytical and critical thinking skills.
- Strong facilitation and relationship building skills, comfort working in direct and indirect management of teams, with multiple stakeholders, while driving momentum.
- Strong communication skills both written and verbal, influencing and negotiation skills, demonstrate emotional intelligence and agility when communicating at all levels within the organization and externally.
- Must be a resourceful self-starter with excellent time management skills.
- Must be comfortable in a high pressure, fast paced business environment, be a driven contributor and work effectively and collaboratively with team members.
- Enthusiastic team player with the flexibility to re-prioritize, multitask and switch tasks fluidly to be nimble with demands and changes in the business - can decide and act without having the total picture and can comfortably handle ambiguity.
