The commercial legal team works across the company supporting all types of engagements with third parties. It is entrusted with ensuring appropriate safeguards are included in all of its contracts, to protect the company, its employees and its users. Facebook is seeking a talented, highly-motivated and organized operational leader that is excited to run a newly-formed function, thrives in a fast-paced environment and can seamlessly drive success working with multiple cross-functional stakeholders to achieve best in class contract compliance operations. In this role, you will take the lead in developing, implementing and managing an operational framework to support the commercial legal team’s efficient and scaled execution of compliance requirements with respect to its contracts. You will work closely with the Commercial, Compliance and Privacy legal teams, Legal Tech and Enterprise Engineering to address all related requirements impacting our commercial legal team and clients, from monitoring, assurance, testing, communications and training when applicable.
The ideal candidate will be very tech-savvy and detail-oriented and have excellent problem-solving skills. The ideal candidate will also have the diplomatic presence to handle assessments by independent auditors with respect to potentially difficult safeguard compliance obligations, and excellent communication skills. To succeed in this role, you will need to be able to multitask efficiently and effectively to manage competing priorities. The position will require close partnering with the Commercial Legal team, Legal Tech and Enterprise Engineering to ensure a full understanding of the requirements, development of necessary processes to support the requirements and implementation of tools to enable us to efficiently scale our compliance efforts in commercial legal.
- Serve as key operations leader to develop, implement, manage and improve key processes and support tooling impacting Commercial Legal’s internal operations and key cross functional processes
- Drive process improvement, change management, and analytic projects related to compliance initiatives across Commercial Legal
- Support commercial attorneys working on privacy compliance matters with operational and tooling questions
- Ensure controls are monitored and periodically tested to determine their design and operating effectiveness
- Manage the requisite communications and training related to safeguards owned by commercial legal
- Work closely with Legal Tech and EP to ensure Commercial Legal has the necessary tools to manage and scale its volume of contracts and compliance obligations
- Build relationships and collaborate with the commercial legal team itself and various other legal teams to further cross-functional alignment/coordination and successful implementation of compliance workstreams
- Provide legal advice on commercial matters, including impact of compliance requirements on engagements
- J.D. degree (or foreign equivalent) and membership in at least one US state bar
- 12+ years of legal or compliance operations/project management experience
- Project management skills-experience with projects requiring organization, process, standardization, scaling, efficiency and operations
- Experience with program management tools and methodology
- Experience driving process improvements, process design and implementation across teams and functions
- Experience with audits and managing/interacting with independent auditors
- Experience prioritizing and managing multiple projects with varying deadlines
- Experience explaining topics and gaining support and consensus from multiple stakeholders
- Communication, collaboration, and interpersonal skills and experience working effectively with cross-functional teams at all levels (including management). Consistently viewed as a subject matter expert and influential partner by such teams
