Job Description

The Director of Assessment and Accreditation leads the assessment, accreditation, Quality Enhancement Program (QEP) activities, and strategic plan metrics for the university. The Director is responsible for developing a strong culture of assessment to improve student learning, including activities related to regional and state accreditation, the oversight of discipline-specific accreditation, and the implementation and assessment of the QEP and strategic plan metrics. Manages software and platforms for assessment, accreditation, faculty reporting, and strategic planning (i.e., QuickScore, Watermark/AMS, Digital Measures, etc.). The Director reports to the Assistant Vice President for Information Technology/Chief Information Officer and has an indirect reporting line to the Associate Vice President for Academic Affairs.

Duties:

  • Collaborates with administrators, faculty an staff to identify appropriate outcomes measures for students and programs.
  • Provides direction to faculty, staff, and students to facilitate the integration of the Quality Enhancement Plan throughout the university. Manages documentation and reporting requirements, and ensures alignment with SACSCOC standards.
  • Guides the implementation and maintenance of an assessment system to provide adequate data to support decision-making: collaborates with university staff to develop an effective automated data collection and reporting system for institutional effectiveness measures and accreditation.
  • Collaborates with the AVP of Academic Affairs on SACSCOC compliance reporting, including substantive change, reaffirmation, and interim reports.
  • Prepares reports using data from multiple sources in different data formats for all assessment, accreditation, QEP and strategic plan initiatives.
  • Supervises the Assessment and Accreditation staff and performs all other duties as assigned.
Qualifications

Required:

1. Master's degree in a related field.

2. Record of progressive administrative experience in at least one of the following areas: assessment of student learning, accreditation process and requirements, administration and execution of Strategic Plan for Student Learning.

3. Self-starter with initiative and ability to work under minimal supervision.

4. Ability to produce neat and accurate work with attention to detail.

5. Strong interpersonal skills.

6. Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines.

7. Clear, precise, and effective written and oral communication skills in English.

8. Ability to assimilate information from various sources into a logical and presentable format.

9. Expertise with common database applications.

10. Sound knowledge of quantitative and qualitative research methods.

Desired:

Doctorate degree.

Experience working with Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC).

Experience with data collection, analysis and interpretation, strategic planning, and project management.
