POSITION SUMMARY

We have full-time direct care positions in our 8 and 9-person group homes for adults with developmental disabilities in the South St. Louis City area. These positions are essential in supporting each individual so that he/she feels a sense of well-being, self-determination, and self-worth. We staff our homes around the clock, every day of the week. If you have the experience and are dedicated to making a difference in the lives of individuals with disabilities, this may be the job for you.

CORE RESPONSIBILITIES

• Assist persons with developmental disabilities with daily living activities including personal hygiene, household chores, medication administration, shopping, and recreational activities.
• Complete all required documentation with regard to medication administration records, communication log entries, data on individual treatment goals and shift progress notes.
• Transport clients on daily errands and to social events (Agency van is available but may need to use own vehicle on occasion).
• Implement Behavior Support Plans and provide emotional support to clients during times of distress.
• Monitor the health status of individuals and report concerns to the RN.
• Assure that the home is kept clean and sanitary.
• Transport clients to doctors’ appointments and serve as an advocate during the appointment.
• Prepare well-balanced meals that are in accordance with the dieticians’ recommendations.
• Comply with all standards to assure the health and safety of clients.
• Interact in a professional manner with families, therapists and other agencies that provide services to the individuals we serve.

QUALIFICATIONS

• High School Diploma or GED.
• Preference will be given to candidates with previous experience in a community residential setting working with individuals with developmental disabilities.
• Valid driver’s license – Class E will be required once hired.
• Current minimum liability auto insurance is required.
• Reliable transportation.
• Clean criminal record and driving history.
• Must be positive, patient, compassionate, respectful and energetic.
