Job Description

JOB DESCRIPTION: Dining Room Server
DEPARTMENT: Dining Service/Dietary
SUPERVISOR: Executive Chef
CLASSIFICATION: Hourly/Non-Exempt

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Service of high-quality meals and facilitation of a gracious environment, which entails; accurate communication and order taking, properly relaying meal orders to back of the house staff. Delivering meals in a timely manner, checking back after main entrée has been delivered to ensure satisfaction. Always clear dirty dishes from all tables. Pour coffee and get other drinks as ordered. Greet residents as they arrive throughout the meal time and get their drink, salad and or soup. Serve dessert after to individuals after main entrée and salad dishes have been cleared. Reset the dining room for the next meal, restock condiments on tables, vacuum and other duties posted in server area.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Education: Not less than a high school diploma.

Experience: Previous experience in the dietary department of a health care facility, or restaurant preferred but not required.

Job Knowledge: Ability to read, write, speak and understand English.

Standards: Knowledge of and ability to meet regulations of ADA, state, infection control, health department, and OSHA.

FUNCTIONS OF THE POSITION:

  • Ensure completion of all tasks listed above, under Duties and Responsibilities
  • Be present in dining room for full meal service, unless delivering room trays
  • Assist special functions as scheduled
  • Maintain high cleanliness, personal hygiene and a sanitary and infection free environment at all times
  • Oversight of bistro areas as directed – food presentation, cleanliness, stock supplies, beverages, make popcorn, etc.
  • Know the specials of the day and how they are prepared and presented
  • Learn individual resident names, dietary needs, requests, likes and dislikes
  • Must serve hot food hot and cold food cold
  • As directed, participate in the Quality Assurance Committee
  • Pick up additional shifts as requested by supervisor
  • Arrange for coverage when you are unable to work your scheduled shift
  • Sanitize tables and chairs, reset tables and vacuum floor after each meal
  • Attend all trainings, orientation, and mandatory meetings
  • As needed, attend to resident experiencing adverse health episodes by contacting management

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

  • Walking approximately three or more hours per shift
  • Lifting 1 - 20# frequently, 21-35# occasionally, 36 – 70# rarely
  • Bending and reaching, squatting and kneeling, crawling and climbing
  • Use of large and small kitchen equipment

WORK AREA AND ENVIRONMENT:

  • North and South Dining Rooms, kitchen, freezers, refrigerators, bistros and throughout the building.

Job Type: Part-time

Pay: $10.00 per hour

Experience:

  • Serving Experience: 1 year (Preferred)
  • Restaurant Experience: 1 year (Preferred)
