The Dietary Utility Worker performs a variety of assigned duties related to the sanitation of dishes, carts, equipment, etc., transportation of trays and coffee urns to the patient areas, and also performs some duties related to the preparation of meals.
Positions offer shift differential (for 3-11 and 11-7 shifts), 8-hour shifts, full- & part-time benefit package, hourly weekday and weekend bonuses!!

The Dietary Utility Worker performs a variety of assigned duties related to the sanitation of supplies and equipment, as well as transportation of meal trays, and may assist with preparation of meals.
SUPERVISION RECEIVED
This position reports directly to the Assistant Director of Dining Services, Executive Chef and/or Chef Manager.
SUPERVISION[1] EXERCISED
This position exercises no supervision.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES OF THE POSITION:
NOTE: An employee assigned to this title shall perform a majority, but may not perform all, of the duties listed in this job description. Conversely, minor level duties performed on the job may not be listed.
Washes pots, pans, utensils and other cooking equipment, using pot washer and/or dish machine.
Washes and sanitizes food trucks, carts and lowerators using cart washer or by hand, if necessary.
Distribution and collection of food carts, meal trays, coffee and hot water, splash program, juice, dairy products and other items to floors as required.
Assists in keeping storage areas in order and floors swept; removes products from boxes onto shelves and moves milk crates from coolers to the outside.
Mops floors for spills as needed.
Uses and cleans compactors and disposal systems.
Assists cooks as needed; works on tray line and dish machine as needed.
Removal of trash, cardboard and recyclables to appropriate areas.
Cleans and sanitizes congregate hot boxes and coolers, draining and cleaning the fryer, cleaning tables and shelving/storage units.

REQUIREMENTS:
A. EDUCATION: Possession of a high school diploma or equivalent is preferred.
B. CERTIFICATION/LICENSE: Employees assigned to this title will be required to possess and maintain a valid and current motor vehicle operator's license only if the operation of a vehicle, rather than employee mobility, is necessary to perform the essential duties of the position.
NOTE: Upon hire all employeest must have a drug screening and COVID-19 testing.
C. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
Knowledge of sanitation practices for raw and cooked product safety.
Knowledge of proper disposal of waste and of chemical product safety.
Skill in the operation of cooking cleaning equipment.
Ability to remain standing for long periods of time
Ability to follow both verbal and written instructions.
Ability to do continuous moderate to heavy lifting and be able to work in a warm, noisy environment with close contact with other people.
Ability to work in very cold temperatures, i.e. walk-in coolers and freezers.
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers, residents, and the public.
Ability to read, write, speak, understand, or communicate in English sufficiently to perform the duties of this position. American Sign Language or Braille may also be considered as acceptable forms of communication.

TOOLS AND EQUIPMENT:
Brooms, mops, and other cleaning equipment. Pot washer, cart washer, dish machine, garbage disposal units and other similar equipment. Coffee and hot water cambros. Hair restraints are required. Gloves required when handling food or working in food preparation area, working on dish machine/pot washer, etc.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
The physical demands described are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job the employee is regularly required to stand and talk or hear. The employee is frequently required to walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; and reach forward with hands and arms. The employee is occasionally required to sit and stoop, kneel, or crouch. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus. The employee must frequently lift and transport items ranging between 10 and 75 pounds, including pushing heavy carts and racks frequently.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job.
While performing the duties of this job, the employee occasionally works near moving mechanical parts, may be exposed to wet or humid conditions and chemicals used for cleaning and sanitizing. The employee is also exposed to cooler temperatures below 40 degrees Fahrenheit and freezer temperatures as low as -20 degrees Fahrenheit. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderately loud in the dietary department.
