This position will allow the opportunity to perform both Dietary Aide and Cook responsibilities/duties. Dietary Aides perform a variety of food service functions in maintaining clean and sanitary conditions of food service areas, facilities, and equipment. They may also assist in some aspects of food preparation. Cooks are responsible for preparing and cooking a wide variety of food for customers, employees, and visitors. They prepare food according to recipes and plans cooking schedules to meet mealtime schedules.
Essential Job Duties & Responsibilities- Handles and prepares food in accordance with federal, state and local sanitary regulations.
- Prepares nutritionally appropriate and appetizing meals, including modified consistency and therapeutic diets, as prescribed by the attending physician. Meets required meal schedules.
- Takes accurate measures to avoid food waste, including participating in production meetings with supervisor(s) and use of production sheets.
- Takes food temperatures per policy and insures food items are prepared, cooled and stored in adherence to corporate, local, state and federal guidelines.
- Ensures that residents and families receive the highest quality of service in a caring and compassionate atmosphere which recognizes the individuals’ needs and rights.
- Handles food and equipment according to corporate, local, state and federal sanitation policies and procedures.
- Is aware of safety regulations and responsibilities in operating all equipment.
- Delivers food carts, trays, etc., to designated areas as instructed by supervisor.
- Prepares and delivers snacks.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Must have knowledge of the methods and techniques of handling and serving food.
- Must have knowledge of sanitation practices relating to food handling.
- Must have the ability to follow diet lists, portion foods as specified, and serve food in an appetizing manner.
