Primary Purpose: Assist with meal preparation, serving and clean up to ensure timely meal service and meet sanitation requirements.
Hours:
- Day Shift: 6:30 AM to 3:00 PM
- Evening Shift: 3:00 PM to 8:00 PM
- Full-time (40 hour) and Part-time (under 30 hour) work week includes every other weekend.
Qualifications:
- Previous experience in a quantity food service desired.
- Must be able to read, write, speak and follow oral and written directions.
- Must be willing to work harmoniously with co-workers and facility staff.
- Pre-employment Drug Screen, Physical and BCI Background Check required. EEO/AA employer.
Position Responsibilities Include (but not limited to):
- Follows facility and departmental policies and procedures and adheres to state and federal regulations.
- Set up dining room tables for meals.
- Clears tables of dishes and trash.
- Washes dishes and silverware according to dishwashing procedure. Puts clean dishes and silverware away as assigned.
- Leaves all work areas clean and in order, ready for next meals preparations.
- Dates, labels, rotate stock per stock schedule.
- Attends and participates in All Staff and department meetings.
- Maintains sanitation and safety standards to meet facility policies and regulatory requirements.
- Maintains conduct that is in keeping with the facility’s Corporate Compliance and Ethics Program including providing a committed and caring environment; a commitment to integrity, quality, excellence and continuous improvement; managing human and material resources ethically; esteeming all personnel, including volunteers, and providing a high quality of life for residents/patients.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Cognitive and Sensory Requirements:
- Speaking English Language - Necessary for communicating with residents and other staff.
- Hearing – Necessary for communication with supervisors and other employees.
- Sight - Necessary for safely carrying out tasks in an environment including residents with dementia.
Physical Activity Requirements:
- Carry 10 to 25 pounds - Occasionally may be required when lifting and transferring prepared and unprepared food as well as dietary supplies.
- Carry 26 to 50 pounds - Infrequent lifting and carrying of dietary items.
- Reach above shoulders height - Frequently occurs when reaching for supplies located on shelves and during cleaning.
- Push / Pull - Occasionally may be required to push or pull a large food cart or smaller carts on tile or carpeted floor.
Hand Manipulation:
- Grasping/Fingering - Frequently when doing documentation, orders, food preparation, cleaning, etc.
- Handling - Constantly handling food equipment and cleaning supplies.
Other Physical Considerations:
- Twisting - Occasionally may occur while transferring food supplies and cleaning items and when cleaning.
- Bending - Occasionally may occur when cleaning, preparing food and doing P.I. studies.
- Crawling - Occasionally for heavy lifting.
- Squatting - Occasionally may occur when making eye-to-eye contact while talking if resident is in a wheelchair. Also while cleaning and some food preparation.
- Climbing - Occasionally to height of six (6) feet for cleaning and stocking dietary supplies.
- Balancing - Occasionally while using a stepladder.
- Sitting/Standing/Walking – Required during entire shift.
