About the job:
In accordance with the Mission and Guiding Behaviors; the Diet Clerks performs clerical and
administrative duties in support of patients, clinical dietitian and patient meal services. The
Diet Clerk functions in the spirit of teamwork, is accountable for communications with the
standards, policies, procedures and guidelines of the organization.
What you'll do:
- Exhibits each of the Mount Carmel Service Excellence Behavior Standards holding self and others accountable and role modeling excellence for all to see. For example: demonstrates friendliness and courtesy, effective communication creates a professional environment and provides first class service.
- Promotes a Culture of Safety by adhering to policy, procedures and plans that are in place to prevent workplace injury, violence or adverse outcome to associates and patients.
- Visits all patients as assigned assisting the patient or family member with menu selections.
- Responds to patient needs, requests in a timely manner
- Demonstrates knowledge of special modified diets using department policies and procedures to assure patient receives the diet ordered.
- Computer skills: Effectively utilizes all appropriate systems: Patient Care System, CBORD Diet Office Management, Palm Pilot for Bedside Menu Entry, ATK and Personal Registrar. Appropriate use of Internet/Intranet
- Checks patient trays for accuracy during meal service.
What we're looking for:
- Education: High school or equivalent required. Additional college training in dietetics or related field preferred.
- Experience: Previous health care experience or demonstrated knowledge of dietetics and medical terminology preferred
- Demonstrates priority setting, organizational skills and the ability to remain calm under stressful situations
- Possesses a high level of professionalism and the ability to establish good rapport with patients, family members, staff and physicians.
- Flexibility to work a variety of shifts/variable schedules
