Die Setter
Job Description:
- Set up of jobs in the die-sets.
Any problem or incidence that occurs while setting-up a job in the die sets has to be specifically written down on the “Set-up sheet” that is available for that purpose. Description of the problem, the reason and how it has been fixed. This will be of great help any time that the same job needs to be set-up again.
- Press set-up.
3.1-. Adjustment and fine-tuning of the press so that all the tolerances and weight can be achieved.
3.2.- The press will run between 50 and 60 parts, and right after that the dimensions and weight of the part will be checked again to make sure that there has been no variation.
3.3.- Proceed with the set-up control.
3.4.- Write down on the “Set-up sheet” any anomalies or problems found and fixed during this process.
- Tooling repair at the press.
4.1-. Adjustment and fine-tuning of the press so that all the tolerances and weight can be achieved.
4.2.- The press will run between 50 and 60 parts, and right after that the dimensions and weight of the part will be checked again to make sure that there has not been any variation.
- Re-start of production
Before releasing a press for full production after a shut down period, the Die Setter has to check each one of the dimensions and tolerances that show up in the Control Plan and the weight of the part. He will not release the press for production until all these characteristics are OK and has checked that the press operates correctly.
- Basic maintenance of the press.
In the process of changing over to a new job, the Die-Setter will have to be clean and lubricate the press and the die set. Also, he will be responsible to perform the daily, weekly and monthly
TPM schedules.
- Supervision-help with Parts Quality Inspection.
The Die-Setter will help and supervise quality inspection process of each part number he is responsible for. As ultimate responsible of the quality of the parts, he will also perform some random “spot-checks” on the significant dimensions and weight of the parts while being compacted in the presses.
- Coining Presses.
All the above will also apply to the Coining presses.
- Other jobs.
The Die-Setter will have to be available to do any other type of jobs that might be requested by his supervisor.
The ideal candidate will posses:
- Mechanical incline mind set.
- Capability to fix small things
- Ability to use some regular tools correctly and safely (screw drivers, wrenches, etc)
- Ability to work individually, as well as a team
- General computer skills
- High School or Trade School / Votech diploma
This position is primarily 3rd shift (10:50 PM – 7:11AM).
Starting rate is $19.00 per hour plus a 15% shift differential ($21.85 per hour total).
