Job Description

We are looking for a DevOps Architect to assist in the continued growth of our software development process and our automated delivery pipeline that assists in building and deploying software more efficiently. The role will cover a myriad of services from multiple products within the AlsoEnergy software stack. You will be primarily responsible for working with our core development group to assist in the development of both existing and new connected products and services with a focus on DevOps-driven development.

Our infrastructure is built on top of multiple hosting infrastructures consisting of AWS, Azure and Private Hosting platforms.

The services we offer our clients depend heavily on HTTP+SSL, REST, and sockets and we would prefer if you have common sense understanding of scalability and maintenance schedules in relation to cloud services. Our clients’ success depends on our reliability.

Responsibilities:

  • Design, develop, and grow the platforms that will drive the customer experiences
  • Work closely with the core development team to assist in guiding development in a DevOps friendly way.
  • Provide architectural advice on software and system optimizations, helping to identify and remove potential performance (CI/CD and running services) bottlenecks
  • Work heavily with other software leads on developing continuous integration (CI) pipeline
  • Work closely with developers to help create unit test automation and load testing
  • Create and maintain runbooks
  • Other duties as assigned


Qualifications:

  • Working experience:
    • Windows Server Systems (configuration, security, monitoring, troubleshooting)
    • IIS
    • Microsoft SQL
    • PowerShell and Batch scripting / automation
    • C# Development
  • Familiarity with CI / CD platforms (currently in use: Teamcity, Octopus, Gitlab, Docker, ECS, Ansible)
  • Familiarity with JS, PHP, Python, Bash scripting languages
  • Familiarity with monitoring technologies such as Nagios, Cloudwatch, Grafana, Netflow, SNMP
  • Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, or relevant field or equivalent work experience
  • Familiarity with virtualization technologies (proxmox, kvm, virt manager)
  • Familiarity with orchestration systems such as Kubernetes, Borg

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Working experience of Linux systems for configuration, managing security.
  • Understanding of Apache, Nginx or similar web servers for Linux systems.
  • Familiarity with PostgreSQL, mySQL, InfluxDB databases
  • Familiarity with versioning tools Git, Subversion.
  • Experience with Amazon Web Services (EC2, S3, VPC, Route 53)


Work Environment:

  • Office Setting, primarily in cubicles
  • Travel by car, air, train periodically
  • Moderate to high noise levels (i.e. business office with computers, phone, printers, moderate traffic)
  • Ability to sit or stand (standing desk provide upon request) at a computer terminal for an extended period


Physical Demands:

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to communicate (talk/sign/type/write) and operate a computer, telephone (or alternative), keyboard (or typing device), etc.
  • Regular, predictable attendance is required
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision requirements due to computer work.
  • Ability to uphold the stress of traveling
