Job Summary:

Under direct supervision transform initial rough product designs using computer aided design (CAD) into working documents and assist in the design of new products up to full production. Works closely with Project Engineers and Project Managers; reviews engineering drawing and designs to ensure adherence to established specifications and standards. Has knowledge of commonly-used electrical concepts practices and procedures. Provide technical support on basic stand-alone engineering assignments under direct supervision.

Essential Functions:


  • At least 4 years' experience creating mechanical and electrical drawings from contract plans using AutoCAD
  • Develop a bill of materials for electrical components
  • Prepare submittals for electrical gear
  • Select and size electrical components from a manufacturers catalog
  • Dimensioning and revision control
  • Interact with internal departments; Engineering Test and Production
  • Recommends alterations to development and design to improve quality of products and/or procedures
  • Review shop drawings and assist with general production services and production schedule
  • Perform routine engineering work requiring application of standard techniques procedures and criteria
  • Produce quality work products which meet or exceed customer expectations and conform to TESCO standards and procedures
  • Clear understanding of project requirements and specifications; scope budget schedule and expectations set by the Project Engineer and Project Manager
  • Explain project specifications in a clear and concise manner
  • Perform other related and associated duties as assigned by the Engineering Manager Project Engineer or Lead Quality Engineer
  • Ability to simultaneously organize and successfully execute multiple project responsibilities
  • Perform all other duties assigned

Demonstrated Skills:

  • Ability to read and understand schematics
  • Attend formal training programs review journals and other publications related to the field help develop new skills or improve existing skills
  • Ability to design and understand aspects of electrical components such as motor control centers and variable frequency drives instrumentation and machinery
  • Understanding of manufacturing workflow including planning activities
  • Possess good communication and interpersonal skills and the ability to interact with all levels of management clients and vendors
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced manufacturing environment
  • Basic understanding of power distribution and control logic
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite familiarity with AutoCAD Electric software
  • Knowledge of MS Office (Word Excel Outlook Access)
  • Knowledge of Adobe Acrobat
