Overview: Madison Square Garden Sports Corp. (MSG Sports) is a leading professional sports company, with a collection of assets that includes: the New York Knicks (NBA) and the New York Rangers (NHL); two development league teams – the Westchester Knicks (NBAGL) and the Hartford Wolf Pack (AHL); and esports teams through Counter Logic Gaming, a leading North American esports organization, and Knicks Gaming, an NBA 2K League franchise. Role Summary: The Design Manager is responsible for leading design and art direction for two iconic sports brands: the New York Knicks and the New York Rangers. The role is both managerial and hands-on. It’s a chance to work with a super-talented, integrated group of people who care about the work they’re doing. Things move fast here; you might design a graphic or a logo or a tee shirt one day and see it on social or TV the next. Channels include social, digital OOH, TVCs, in-arena, signage, apparel, merchandise, web and email. You’ll work on initiatives like brand campaigns, draft, schedule release, player marketing, in-arena theme nights, All-Star, season launch, and playoffs. Specific Functions/Activities Summary:
  • Leads development and production of design work for the Knicks and Rangers
  • Manages three in-house designers across both sports teams
  • Shepherds creative materials requests and deliverables from the point of receiving a creative brief through to completion
  • Ensures the highest level of quality for all design work
  • Collaborates with other creatives on over-arching creative ideas for brand campaigns and specific initiatives
  • Coordinates with Marketing Strategy and Marketing Partnerships teams on the creation of marketing materials and branding design
  • Finds efficiencies where appropriate by developing systems and templates
  • Liaises with outside agencies on co-creation initiatives and campaigns.
  • Supports the promotion of both teams’ Junior channels and community integrations
Qualifications:
  • Proven branding design experience
  • Advanced skills in the Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator, Acrobat)
  • Proficient in MS Office (Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, Excel)
  • Knowledge in and passion for print design, digital design, branding, and typography
  • Strong analytical skills, conceptual skills, and ability to brainstorm
  • Keen attention to detail
  • Excels at working in a team environment while also being able to work independently
  • Confident presentation skills
  • Ability to handle multiple projects at once while sticking to deadlines
  • Desire and willingness to learn, grow, and contribute wherever needed
