Job Summary
The Dermatology Technician I provides support to the Dermatologist and Dermatology Nurse Practitioner during procedures and general clinic practice. The Dermatology Technician covers all scheduled Mohs dates to support the Mohs Surgeon during Mohs procedures. This position obtains lab specimens per physician order including lab draws and urine specimens. The Dermatology Tech schedules Mohs procedures and performs pre-procedure and follow-up calls to patients.
Essential Job Functions
- Assists physician and licensed nursing staff with dermatology and Mohs procedures room setup, turnover, ordering supplies, etc.
- Collects data which includes: patient’s vital signs, portions of the record, and information from the patient and/or family on the patient’s individual and educational needs.
- Completes all documentation according to standard operating procedure as delegated by the provider. Maintains and updates OSHA and CLIA records per the direction of the Histology Tech.
- Assists with involving the patient, family or caregiver into the implementation of the plan of care.
- Assists with the Mohs referral process, pre-procedure calls and post procedure follow up.
- Performs other duties as assigned or needed to meet the needs of the department/organization.
- Demonstrates understanding and follows infection control policies and procedures according to standard operating procedure.
- Maintains requirements for age specific competencies for the position and demonstrates the knowledge or principles of growth and developments and the skills necessary to provide patient/customer care/services.
- Demonstrates knowledge and understanding of and compliance with:
- All pertinent safety, health and environmental policies, procedures and guidelines.
- Working safely, without causing harm or risk to self, others or property.
- The work environment safety procedures and prompt reporting of unsafe practices, procedures, accidents, injuries or other safety violations to the Leader.
- The use of all safety equipment and personal protective equipment.
