DEPARTMENTAL SAFETY COORDINATOR
An exceptional job opportunity for persons with professional experience in safety managementThis is a series recruitment that may be subject to suspend on Monday, January 4, 2021, at 11:59 p.m.
The Departmental Safety Coordinator will be primarily responsible for planning, developing, and implementing a comprehensive safety program; coordinating safety education and training staff supporting the San Diego County Library's 33 branches. This position will be responsible for conducting facility inspections and audits, risk assessment and preparing evaluation reports; recommending and implementing strategies to enhance safety policies and procedures, and mitigate hazards.
The successful candidate will have the ability to communicate well with all levels of staff, manage multiple priorities with competing deadlines in the management of safety and training programs, will be required to analyze occupational safety and health legislation and regulatory changes, keep current on new developments, and incorporate mandated regulatory changes governing safe work practices.
Departmental Safety Coordinators are allocated to the San Diego County Library (SDCL), Department of General Services (DGS), Department of Public Works (DPW), District Attorney Office, Health & Human Services Agency (HHSA) and Sheriff's Department. The eligible list established from this recruitment will be used to fill a vacancy in San Diego County Library; however, the eligible list may be used for future vacancies in other allocated departments.

- A bachelor's degree from an accredited U.S. college or university, or a certified foreign studies equivalency with an emphasis in industrial engineering, health science or occupation safety and health, or a closely related field; AND,
- Two (2) years of experience in the development and implementation of safety programs.
