POSITION: Department Manager
LOCATION: Red Cliff Police Department
SALARY: $18.00 per hour plus benefits
SUPERVISOR(S): Chief of Police
THIS IS A REGULAR FULL-TIME NON-EXEMPT POSITION
JOB SUMMARY: Under the general direction of the Chief of Police, performs, oversees, manages, and supervises assigned functions of the Police Department; assists with managing budgets and grants, filing, coordination of training, documentation, and reporting; performs a variety of other special project/program activities; performs all other related duties as assigned.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Assist Chief and other department staff in maintain accurate and efficient records and compliance with all requirements.
- Assist Chief and other department staff in completing required reports.
- Assist in managing grants and seeking additional funding needed to maintain department needs.
- Coordinate and participate in the collection, maintenance, retrieval, and distribution of documents and information in accordance with federal and state laws and department policies.
- Coordinate purchasing, including processing and tracking transactions.
- Coordinate training for current and potential department staff.
- Provide project management on assigned projects and programs, including researching, compiling, and analyzing information, preparing specialized analytical reports relating to core functions of departmental operations, reviewing administrative policies and procedures and initiating or recommending improvements, and preparing and processing a variety of reports, forms and other documents.

KNOWLEDGE:
- Must maintain absolute confidentiality as files have privacy information.
- Knowledge of basic filing or clerical skills.
- Must be able to work independently.
- Good telephone and customer service skills.
- Be self-motivated.
- Any combination of experience and training that would provide the required knowledge, skills, and abilities is qualifying
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Minimum of high school diploma, HSED or GED required.
- An Associate degree in finance, accounting, business administration, or a related field is preferred.
- Two years of increasingly responsible experience in governmental administrative or fiscal activities, preferably in a law enforcement setting
- Must possess a valid driver’s license and be insurable under the Tribe’s insurance.
PERSONAL CONTACTS: Police Department and Conservation Warden Staff and other tribal departments’ staff.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Work is generally performed in an office environment. Must be able to perform the physical aspects of the job, including sitting for periods of time; operate standard office equipment, including a computer; hearing and speech to communicate in person and over the telephone; lift, push, pull, and carry up to 25 lbs.; interact with a diverse range of people, which may sometimes include emergency or stressful situations.
