POSITION SUMMARY
Acts as a liaison between Dentists, Hygienists, administration and auxiliary staff members. Is responsible for the day-to-day activities of the Dental Clinic, which includes but is not limited to staff management, education and training. Provides supervision to dental support staff and serves as the authority for the smooth function of all dental support staff day-to-day activities. Responsibilities include problem solving, especially with patient flow, continuous quality improvement in clinical areas, work with Chief Dental Officer, Dental Care Director and all other health center staff in the development and implementation of internal and external business and strategic plans for the department and ensure operational efficiency.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

1. Interview, hire, provide orientation for new employees and develop updated and orientation program designs and training schedules.
2. Prepare staff schedules that meet patient care needs and maintain efficiency within budgetary guidelines.
3. Monitor schedules to ensure utilization/productivity is managed properly (i.e. providers getting proper units for procedures, managing support staff, and hygiene down times.)
4. Oversee daily operations of dental center, to include staff, provider, and patient relations when Dental Care Director is unavailable.
5. Develop goals for work groups and design action plans to accomplish goals upon approval of Chief Dental Officer.
6. Identify staff education needs and develop programs to maintain quality workforce upon approval of Dental Director.
7. Assist Dental Care Director with employee performance-based evaluations on performance standards.
8. Attend dental department meetings as liaison for patient care staff.
9. Organize clinic operations with regard to provider schedules enduring that Dentists have proper support/ coverage at all time.
10. Identify safety issues in patient care environment and develop procedure s, training, and evaluation to meet safety requirements.
11. Develop and update department policies and procedures.
12. Order, log, and maintain security of substances prescribed to patients.
13. Troubleshoot dental software problems and system errors. Log support calls and resolutions.
14. Coordinate with IT and Dental Billing the on-boarding of clinic and provider information, license numbers, Medicaid provider numbers, etc.
15. Coordinate the training of new staff to the dental software system and provide updates and additional training as needed.
16. Aid in testing of new versions that become available for release.
17. Liaison with dentists and dental coding program specialist in having new dental codes established in the dental software.
18. Interface with Dental Care Director and Outreach department to identify marketing opportunities, implement programs, and evaluate outcome.
19. Interface with Billing Department to identify patient or department billing issues, recommend changes, and evaluate outcome.
20. Interface with Medical and Behavioral Health Departments in a collaborative effort.
21. Ensure adequate staff coverage for Seal-A-Smile Program at all times.
22. Perform as a backup Dental Assistant when needed.
23. Other duties as assigned.
