Job Summary


This position is responsible for performing procedures allowable according to Arizona State Dental Laws and assisting the dental provider in providing dental care to patients. The Dental Assistant position ensures the proper sterilization of equipment for dental provider use and providing patients information in regard to treatment, scheduling, and insurance authorization.


Position schedule and location will vary based on coverage needed across various clinics/sites: Tempe, Gateway, Maryvale, Goodyear, and Baseline.


**Must have reliable transportation to commute to facilities as required and remain on the Approved Driver’s List.**

Essential Functions


  • Takes high-quality images as prescribed by dental provider.
  • Uses proper techniques and dental equipment when assisting dental provider in the delivery of services.
  • Takes/records blood pressure and weight of patients.
  • Places consent forms in an electronic dental chart and provide forms to patients.
  • Accurately explains the process of treatment with patient with the assistance of a dental provider.
  • Prepares and maintains all dental trays and instruments.
  • Upkeeps the sterilization/cleanliness and inventory of dental equipment.
  • Responsible for the pickup, delivery, and communication regarding the status of dental case. Informs front office staff to contact patient in order to make a follow up appointment.
  • Contacts patients that have received a surgical dental procedure within 2 business days to inquire if the patient is having any complications due to the procedure.
  • Informs dentist when a patient’s insurance requires pre-authorization.
  • Complies with the MPHC and government safety policies and procedures. Conducts annual review of policies and procedures in case of revisions made.
  • Attends all mandatory and staff meetings.
  • Consistent, reliable in-person attendance is required.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Position Qualifications


Minimum Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Radiology/X-Ray certification and/or Coronal Polishing certification

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Coronal Polishing certification. Ability to obtain upon hire within six months
