Agility 360 is searching for a CERTIFIED DE CHUMS Underwriter for our client, a growing bank lender/servicer.
As a member of the DE Underwriting team, you will be responsible for underwriting residential loans for the wholesale department ensuring compliance with appropriate company, secondary market investor standards, and all applicable laws. The DE Underwriter will be responsible for examining loan documentation for accuracy and completeness. Must be able to underwrite loans within the company and industry guidelines. The DE Underwriter will also be working with Regional Managers, Account Executives, Broker's Loan Officers, and Processors to secure all required documents.

As a member of the DE Underwriting team, you will be responsible for underwriting residential loans for the wholesale department ensuring compliance with appropriate company, secondary market investor standards, and all applicable laws. The DE Underwriter will be responsible for examining loan documentation for accuracy and completeness. Must be able to underwrite loans within the company and industry guidelines. The DE Underwriter will also be working with Regional Managers, Account Executives, Broker's Loan Officers, and Processors to secure all required documents.
Duties:
- Collectively reviews customer's credit history, income, and assets applying underwriting fundamentals of FNMA, FHA, VA, and USDA government programs to determine if all government lending qualities exist, and a loan may be granted.
- Reviews of appraisal/ collateral documents and can recognize potential quality or salability issues
- Stays current with and applies investor program overlays and Agency product guidelines when underwriting loans for the secondary market sale and each institution's requirement.
- Assess and determines qualifying income for all types of incomes; w-2 wage earner, passive income, all types of self-employed income (Schedule C, 1120, 1120S, and 1065 Corporation) in addition to Schedule E rental property and Schedule F Farm income evaluation, must be able to calculate income via 1084 for self-employed borrowers.
- Uses working knowledge of internal portfolio programs, second lien products, and other niche programs (Interim construction, Home Improvement, etc.) applying internal underwriting guidelines to assess risk to the bank
- Understands the complexity of the credit, income, and assets for Jumbo loans and has the ability to recognize potential lending risks on these.
- Successfully maintains internal partnerships with Lenders, Processors, and Closers to ensure that any underwriting questions are answered, and all underwriting conditions are met.
- Owns the skill to review Title documents, all schedules- to identify any potential issues that may affect lien position
- Review loans submitted for adverse action to confirm loans were declined according to federal guidelines
- Uses practical knowledge to offer alternate program ideas or non-traditional documentation ideas to cover any risk detected at underwriting while remaining compliant to government and investor requirements.
- Encompasses knowledge of and adheres to all Compliance Regulations and Federally mandated laws pertaining to the underwriting of mortgages.
- Has working knowledge of RESPA, TRID, and HMDA and can recognize noncompliance in these areas
- Educated as to ATR/QM requirements and can analyze and determine a potential customer's ability to repay
- High School Diploma or GED required
- Minimum 5 years of current frontline mortgage DE Underwriting required
- Encompass knowledge is a plus
- Must have experience underwriting FHA loan products and be assigned FHA CHUMS number
