Job Description: Database Administrator
The Database Administrator will be responsible for the installation, upgrade, administration and performance tuning in SQL Server and Azure environment. Responsible for oversight and delivery expectations. Responsible for backup and restore of database environments, cloning instances to update Test and Development environments, working closely with Application Support teams to do DBA development activities such as Performance Tuning, Data Modeling, and Database Design. Highly experienced supporting fast paced hands-on client environment.
Required Technical Knowledge
- Expert knowledge of SQL Server databases (7-10 years required)
- Expertise in relational database environments
- Advanced Windows and scripting skills to support SQL Server
- Ability to implement comprehensive Backup/Restore mechanisms
- Experience working with Microsoft support: opening, managing, and resolving SQL Server issues
- Broad use of SQL Server on Windows 2012-2019 environments
- Support and implementation of SSIS/SSRS/SSAS
- Experience with business continuity planning
- Well versed in disaster recovery planning
Key Responsibilities
- Manage and support multiple Development, Test, and Production SQL applications environments
- Monitor and report system resource consumptions to assure databases meet requirements
- Identify, analyze, and interpret trends or patterns in complex data sets
- Identify and define database processes improvement opportunities
- Perform cloning, patching, and code migration as necessary to support business requirements
- Upgrades and patches to SQL Server and Azure installations
- Work with IT applications teams to ensure database requirements are met
- Perform security reviews and protect data from inappropriate access or data loss
- SQL and T-SQL Scripting as necessary to support customer
- Coordinate with the database developers and ensure implementation of standards and modular structures
- Create and manage the Data Flow & Data Modeling for multiple systems
- Approve database structure changes and updates prior to production migration and review updated/created documentation
- Manage AND update the entity relationship diagrams (ERDs) (logical AND physical) for SQL Server and other databases
- Be prepared for emergency support 24/7 with strong understanding of backup and recovery best practices
Minimum Qualifications
- 7-10+ years’ experience as a DBA
- Experience in the development of databases objects including stored procedures, triggers, views, and functions
- Experience with trouble shooting database performance issues including optimization
- Experience with creating database documentation including ERD’s, data flow diagrams, and architecture diagrams
- Detail oriented and effective time management and organizational skills
- Exceptional written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills
- Dedicated, self-motivated and efficient
- Ability to plan, generate plans, and follow-through even in chaotic times

Primary Work Location: 2013 Citywest Blvd., Houston, TX 77042 (this role is onsite 4-5 days a week)
