Job Description
Day Services Counselor Per-Diem/Relief Staff

MHA is hiring immediately for a Day Services Counselor.
MHA’s Resource Center provides day support services to individuals living with brain injuries. This dynamic position is responsible for the personal care of the individuals served in this program and facilitating activities and groups. This can include supporting people in the participation of the group or running the group independently. The Day Services Counselor also works in tandem with the Coordinator to assess the needs of the members of the center and implement programming accordingly. Choice is one of the cornerstones of the Resource Center’s philosophy; therefore programming is diverse and changes regularly. Successful candidates will bring their own passion and interests into this position to share them with people who are looking to expand their own. Community integration is another major guiding principle at the Resource Center, so the capability to transport people who require the use of wheelchairs is necessary as well as the enthusiasm to try new activities. The Resource Center’s mission is to create opportunities to increase independence to all of our members, across all areas of life.Day Services Counselor Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively, while still maintaining independent responsibilities, prioritize tasks, and organize steps of a task
  • A passion for working with people to help increase their independence
  • Strong intrapersonal skills, patience, caring, and compassion.
  • Demonstrated ability to adapt to the changing needs of members of the center.
  • Ability to problem solve with creative solutions and “outside the box” thinking
  • Dependability is a key component of this position, therefore a history of good attendance is necessary
  • Hobbies or interests to share with the members of the center
  • Ability to conduct self and communicate in a professional, respectful manner
  • Valid driver’s license, sufficient automobile insurance, and acceptable driving record.
  • Must be at least twenty-one years old.

This is a relief/Per Diem position the schedule would be during the 8:30am-4:30pm
