Role and Responsibilities

As a data engineer on the Data Solutions team, you will be responsible for managing Samsung’s DataLake and Cloud computing environment.

Our mission is to provide a world class data platform, which is used by thousands of engineers to discover insights and drive improvement on key factory outcomes such as yield, output, and cost reduction.

We play a role in every aspect of the data lifecycle (virtualization, discoverability, storage, and governance) as well as providing a powerful computational environment for end users using primarily open source technologies. The ideal candidate should have strong desire to be part of a highly technical team with and an interest in managing physical and virtualized infrastructure and applications and passion for empowering others.

  • Architect, develop, and drive complex technical solutions.
  • Design, develop, troubleshoot, and debug applications, APIs, and databases.
  • Creation and Maintenance of virtualized infrastructure.
  • Creation of playbooks to run when responding to alerts or incidents.
  • Utilize existing monitoring tools or create new ones with the goal of maximizing overall system health.
  • Define test strategy and lead the creation of automated tests for CI/CD pipeline.
  • Provide excellent customer support to users while debugging issues.
  • Train factory engineers on how to better utilize the system.
  • Be able to work with cross functional teams including overseas counterparts.
  • Work days and hours: 1st -Shift, Mon - Fri, 8am-5pm.

Skills and Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Data Science.
  • At least 1 year of experience as a Software/Data Engineer.
  • Strong programming/scripting skills Java, SQL, Python, Spark, C#, Bash, and API patterns.
  • Understanding of Virtualization (VMWare and Kubernetes).
  • Knowledge of Apache Hadoop, Spark, Hive, Impala, Dremio.
  • Familiarity with distributed file systems (HDFS, S3).
  • Agile/Scrum development experience.
  • Experience in software development toolkits (Jira, Confluence and Git).
