Job Description
Overview: In this position you will work as a data quality lead within the Chief Data Office and collaborate with Data Stewards and Data Owners to create data quality controls that can be continuously monitored. You will examine and profile complex data to optimize the efficiency and quality of the data being collected, resolve data quality issues/problems, and collaborate with database developers to improve systems and database designs.
This role will support the overall (end-to-end) Data Quality Framework within the Data Governance program. This is a specialized role which undertakes and conducts Data Quality Measurement activities to develop comprehensive data quality rules on Key Data Elements that are deployed on appropriate databases and schemas as the data. In this position, you will lead the requirements gathering, testing and hand off to development for SDLC deployment. This role also leads the monitoring of Data Quality Controls Rules and remediation efforts of any DQ rule exceptions via Data Quality Incident Management. You will examine complex business and transactional data to optimize the efficiency and quality of the data being collected, resolve data quality issues/problems, and collaborate with team members.Responsibilities:

- Engage and initiate data quality projects with various lines of business (KDE framework)
- Establish Data Profiling projects/analyze or query data that will be shared with the data stewards
- Evaluate large datasets for quality and accuracy and deploying Data Profiling using applications or querying datasets for assessing initial data quality
- Utilize lineage tool to help understand data processing, vulnerabilities and targets for data quality improvement
- Business requirements support for translating business rules into data quality validation checks for development (JIRA)
- UAT test cases and testing support – work with Q/A manager and business stewards to validate rules
- Exception analysis: Identify, compare, and resolve data quality problems, leading data quality working groups
- Identify, assess, monitor, document, and communicate potential quality issues in the way data is collected, stored, processed, or used
- Determine business impact level for data quality issues
- Develop process improvements to enhance overall data quality
- Developing training materials, documentation and visual queues
- Provide data quality training and presentations to external clients and internal teams
- Ensures DQ Rule metadata is accurate and implemented Rules are linked to Glossary terms
- Reporting on project statuses using Microsoft Project in timely and accurate manner
- 8+ years of prior experience with data quality measurement and monitoring, including definition of business rules, technical data quality rules, metrics and exceptions management and understanding of Data Governance best practices.
- Strong relationship management and influencing skills to build enduring and productive alliances across matrix organizations
- Prior experience working with SQL for queries and analysis.
- Have prior experience with Data Profiling, Data Management, and can recognize trends, statistical anomalies in the data.
- Having a results-oriented attitude and can lead and drive towards results in an independent yet collaborative manner.
- Familiar with JIRA Issue and Project Tracking application, SDLC phases and process
- Demonstrated ability successfully manage multiple priorities and stakeholders under pressure
- Strong team player with excellent listening, interpersonal, facilitation, written, oral and communication skills; ability to effectively communicate concepts in both technical and user-friendly language to management, peers, staff, and other employees so that issues and solutions are understood
- Proven skills in MS Office suite, MS Excel and MS Project
- Understanding of Financial Services, Banking transactions and regulatory mandates (BCBS 239)
- Proven passion for the data quality discipline
- Strong communication and collaboration skills, driving a data quality a service model
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills the ability to multi-task
- BA or BS degree
- It would be helpful if you have any prior experience working in financial services, the insurance industry, or a curiosity to learn about financial services.
