Department Description:
Oracle’s Cloud Data Center Operations team is building and supporting new Infrastructure-as-a-Service technologies that operate at high scale in a broadly distributed multi-tenant cloud environment. Our customers run their businesses on our cloud, and our mission is to provide them with best in class compute, storage, networking, database, security, and an ever-expanding set of foundational cloud-based services.

Position Overview:
The Oracle. Data Center Technician is an enterprise data center position. Training will be given in all needed areas.
An Oracle a. Data Center Technician you will have an opportunity to develop skills related to DC Operations and provide support to the local support teams. You will learn to troubleshoot and solve all but the most complex infrastructure issues. As a skilled troubleshooter on a wide range of Data Center environment and systems you understand which issues to escalate and their appropriate resolver groups. You will create maintain and improve processes and documentation on technologies you support, understand all aspects of the equipment you support, know how to innovate and make decisions on your own, take direction and feedback when it is given, pay attention to all details involved. As well, you will help introduce automation with the aim of simplification.
Responsibilities:
Act as technical liaison for our technical teams. Champion standardization, innovate to simplify, increase efficiency while driving down cost. Ensure that contractors and vendors are delivering quality services and that all SLAs are being met. Execute small projects on your own and work with management to plan and complete large local projects. Understand all aspects of the equipment you support. Proactively monitor the customer environment by checking system error logs, monitoring ticket queues and consulting with other groups involved in maintaining the environments. Making recommendations to resolve system errors and performance issues and take corrective actions.
Qualifications:
Must demonstrate strong foundational knowledge of 2 or more of the following areas
· Systems administration (Linux and/or Windows Servers)
· Strong troubleshooting skills
· Understanding of Networking (DNS, TCP/IP)
· Understanding of scripting (Java, Perl, Ruby, C#, and/or PHP)
· Demonstrated examples of process improvement execution
· Demonstrated examples of a drive to dig into the details of a system or process to solve customer problems
· Excellent oral and written communication skill
· Ability to take direction, understand SOPs/ MOPs, and escalate appropriately
· Open to provide after-hours support as needed
· Experience supporting large, Enterprise customers in an Operations environment
Candidate Profile:
Knowledge of data center ecosystem (cooling, electrical, networking, and structured cabling)
· Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience preferred.
· 1 year relevant experience in a Support / Operations role preferred.

· RAID
· SAN
· x86 Architecture
· SCSI
· Linux/Unix Administration:
· Boot Process
· GRUB/LILO
· File Systems
· Network device and protocol configuration
· Directory Structure
· Performance Management/Troubleshooting
· Base Operating System Install
· Some experience with Perl, Python, Bash or Java
· Core OS Services: ssh, telnet, ftp, nfs, dns, dhcp, samba, ldap, cvs
· Previous experience working in a Data Center environment (racking & stacking gear, cable management, hot & cold aisle containment).
· Networking Protocols (OSI Model)
· Copper/Fiber Optic Testing/Cabling Standards
· Project management, organization and problem solving skills with a drive for results.
· Strong troubleshooting and performance tuning skills.
· The position has a physical component requiring the ability to lift up to 75 lbs and may require working in cramped spaces or elevated locations.

1. Sun /Oracle Hardware or any major server technology experience
2. Linux Operating systems experience

Define, design, and implement network communications and solutions within a fast-paced, leading edge database/applications company.
Perform performance trend analysis and manage the server/network capacity. Propose client configuration and implement technical solutions to enhance and/or troubleshoot the system. Work with others to define, coordinate vendor purchase needs. Responsible for support documentation as well.
Job duties are varied and complex utilizing independent judgment. May have project lead role. 5 years of related experience in a medium to large network distributed and computing environment. BS in Computer Science or related field.
