Job Description
Overview: The Data Architect is responsible for A-dec’s comprehensive data architecture strategy. The incumbent will shape the growth of the business intelligence team and position data at the core of every business function. They will establish data standards and provide strategic direction on data schema design and implementation. This position will interact with our clients, internal design teams, and senior leadership – align with each group and appropriately inform them on developing progress and overall objectives.Responsibilities:
  • Transform business requirements into technical solutions around schema design and database object development.
  • Accountable for the development of new data schemas to support robust data ETL process resulting in data models being available to the organization for ad-hoc analysis, data visualization, and more.
  • Identify & document A-dec’s internal and external data sources, collaborating with department heads to determine their data storage and organizational needs, and use that information to create and maintain data infrastructure for company employees.
  • Conduct significant research into the interactions between order management systems, web applications, and other e-commerce systems to create a prioritized project roadmap for the various data integration projects that will be required.
  • Leverage enterprise BUS and ETL tools to keep data up to date across a wide range of systems.
  • Lead the development of ETL and Data Integration Projects.
  • Document and publish organization-wide data definitions, bus matrices, and cube models.
  • Establish data architecture review processes for the business intelligence team in partnership with data engineers, analysts, and management team.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in data science, computer science, information systems, or related field, or equivalent experience and 2 years of relevant work experience in a data engineer/data architect role.
  • Ability to translate business needs into data architecture requirements and provide multiple solution options, assessing risks/mitigation, while staying unbiased toward any specific technology or vendor and focus on results, rather than personal preferences.
  • Detail oriented, highly organized, with the ability to manage time, prioritize multiple tasks and meet deadlines. Ability to interact with customers and successfully accomplish tasks as an individual or as part of a team.
  • Working knowledge and demonstrated high proficiency with Azure DevOps, SQL Server, DAX, Power Query, PowerBI, and other data related technologies.
  • Experience with a variety of ETL tools and methodologies. Familiarity with a variety of data modeling tools like Informatica, Teradata, etc.
  • Knowledge and understanding of data security best practices.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Outstanding written and verbal communication skills, with strong ability to prepare and present materials to customers.
  • Possesses excellent interpersonal skills in the areas of teamwork, facilitation, and negotiation while displaying strong leadership and collaboration skills.
