Work Hours/Shift:

Full Time

Monday - Friday

8am-4:30pm

You Will Be Responsible For:

  • Performs microscopic examination of both non-gynecologic and gynecologic specimens for evidence of precancerous lesions, cancer, inflammatory processes, organisms and other pathological conditions
  • Enters diagnosis into the LIS system
  • Tracks daily slide screening and other cytology QA/QC
  • Processes gynecologic, non-gynecologic & fine needle aspiration (FNA) specimens
  • Assists pathologist on FNA/core biopsy (ROSE) procedures in special radiologic settings
  • Maintains equipment and supplies
  • Follows all established policies and procedures
  • Performs other duties at the discretion of the supervisor

Qualifications


What You Will Need:

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in Biological Science
  • Successful completion of a 12-month Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP) accredited Cytotechnology program
  • Certified as a Cytotechnologist by the American Society of Clinical Pathologists as a CT (ASCP)
  • One to three years of experience preferred
  • ThinPrep Imager experience preferred

Job Summary:

Cytotechnologist performs anatomical pathology procedures as certified. Requires the exercise of independent judgement under minimum supervision. Work customarily involves procedures, cytopreparation and slide screening, which require a high degree of theoretical and practical knowledge, and expertise in certified area.
