Work Hours/Shift:
Full Time
Monday - Friday
8am-4:30pm
You Will Be Responsible For:
- Performs microscopic examination of both non-gynecologic and gynecologic specimens for evidence of precancerous lesions, cancer, inflammatory processes, organisms and other pathological conditions
- Enters diagnosis into the LIS system
- Tracks daily slide screening and other cytology QA/QC
- Processes gynecologic, non-gynecologic & fine needle aspiration (FNA) specimens
- Assists pathologist on FNA/core biopsy (ROSE) procedures in special radiologic settings
- Maintains equipment and supplies
- Follows all established policies and procedures
- Performs other duties at the discretion of the supervisor
Qualifications
What You Will Need:
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in Biological Science
- Successful completion of a 12-month Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP) accredited Cytotechnology program
- Certified as a Cytotechnologist by the American Society of Clinical Pathologists as a CT (ASCP)
- One to three years of experience preferred
- ThinPrep Imager experience preferred
Job Summary:
Cytotechnologist performs anatomical pathology procedures as certified. Requires the exercise of independent judgement under minimum supervision. Work customarily involves procedures, cytopreparation and slide screening, which require a high degree of theoretical and practical knowledge, and expertise in certified area.
