- clean building floors by sweeping, mopping, scrubbing, or vacuuming them.
- gather and empty trash.
- remove snow from sidewalks, driveways, and parking areas, using snowplows, snow blowers, and snow shovels, and spread snow melting chemicals.
- requisition supplies and equipment needed for cleaning and maintenance duties.
- perform minor maintenance and repairs on equipment or buildings such as replacing light bulbs, or minor painting.

- able to operate janitorial equipment properly and safely
- ability to maintain equipment in a clean, safe and operable condition
- able to complete tasks within a deadline
